전북대학교 토목공학과 학부생 팀이 제28회 토목의 날을 기념해 열린 ‘토목 구조물 모형 경진대회’에서 은상을 수상했다.

대한토목학회 주최, 한국도로공사 후원으로 열린 이번 대회에서 전북대 김진서, 김관우, 김재원, 박찬우, 윤찬, 유동민 학생은 부유식 항구와 2층 구조 교량을 결합한 ‘플로팅 하버(Floating Harbor)’를 선보였다.

이들은 수심이 얕은 지역에서도 물류 효율을 높일 수 있는 지속가능한 친환경 구조물을 제안해, 미래형 토목 인프라의 가능성을 제시했다는 평가를 받았다. 예선을 통과한 후 본선 발표에서도 탁월한 성과를 거두며 수상의 영예를 안았다.

팀 대표 김진서 학생은 “친환경성과 경제성을 함께 고려한 구조물로 실제 문제 해결에 도전했다”며 “지속가능한 토목 인프라 개발에 기여하고 싶다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

A team of undergraduate students majoring in Civil Engineering at Jeonbuk University won a silver prize at the 'Civil Engineering Structure Model Competition' held to commemorate the 28th Civil Engineering Day.

At this event, organized by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers and sponsored by the Korea Expressway Corporation, Jeonbuk University students Kim Jin-seo, Kim Kwan-woo, Kim Jae-won, Park Chan-woo, Yoon Chan, and Yoo Dong-min presented the 'Floating Harbor,' a combination of a floating port and a two-story structure bridge.

They received praise for proposing a sustainable and eco-friendly structure that can enhance logistics efficiency even in shallow waters, demonstrating the potential of future civil engineering infrastructure. After advancing through the preliminary rounds, they achieved outstanding results in the final presentation, securing the honor of winning.

Team leader Kim Jin-seo expressed his thoughts, saying, "We tackled real problems with a structure that considers both environmental friendliness and cost-effectiveness," and added, "I want to contribute to the development of sustainable civil engineering infrastructure."
