26회 전주국제영화제(공동집행위원장 민성욱·정준호)가 특별전 ‘가능한 영화를 향하여’를 통해 영화제작과 미학에서 자신만의 대안을 찾은 9팀(트래비스 윌커슨, 안데르그라운필름, 데클런 클라크, 마리 로지에, 니콜라스 페레다, 엘팜페로시네, 사랑하자, 테드 펜트, 라두 주데)의 제작사와 창작자를 소개한다.

영화영상산업이 점점 거대해지는 구조에 저항하며 작은 자원이지만 많은 아이디어와 창의력으로 다른 영화를 할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하는 영화들이 관객과 만날 예정이다.

섹션을 기획한 문성경 프로그래머는 "최근 거듭되는 변화와 이슈들로 인해 영화계는 지금까지 만들어온 근원적 정신마저 점차 포기하고 있으며, 소수에게 권력이 집중되는 현실 세계의 불평등이 적나라하게 드러나고 있다"며 "감독들은 영화 자체보다 영화를 만들기 위해 필요한 자본에 더욱 헌신하여, 가장 중요한 영화를 만드는 것이 후과제로 보이기도 한다"고 최근 영화계의 현실을 짚었다. 그러면서 "이번 ‘특별전: 가능한 영화를 향하여’는 이러한 현실 속에서도 해결책을 찾은 이들과 그들의 작품을 소개한다"고 설명했다.

알베르 세라의 모든 영화를 제작하고, 알랭 기로디의 <미세리코르디아>, 전주시네마프로젝트 <애프터워터>를 공동제작한 몬세 트리올라 프로듀서의 마스터클래스도 5월 5일 메가박스 전주객사 1관에서 개최된다. 그가 알베르 세라 감독과 독특하고 독립적인 제작방식으로 만든 영화가 칸, 로카르노, 산세바스티안 등의 권위있는 영화제에서 주목을 받고 수상하는 결과를 성취한 과정을 들려줄 예정이다.

전주국제영화제는 가능한 영화를 향하는 이들의 이야기와 작품 세계를 담은 책자 『가능한 영화를 향하여』 발간 소식을 함께 전했다. 영화제 기간 중 『가능한 영화를 향하여』 출판 기념 북토크도 진행될 예정이다.

The 26th Jeonju International Film Festival, co-executive directed by Min Sung-wook and Jung Jun-ho, will introduce 9 teams (Travis Wilkerson, Andersgrøn Film, Declan Clarke, Marie Losier, Nicolas Pereda, El Pampero Cine, Let's Love, Ted Fendt, Radu Jude) and creators who have found their own alternatives in film production and aesthetics through a special exhibition titled "Towards Possible Films."

Films that resist the increasingly massive structure of the film and video industry, but offer the possibility of creating different films with small resources and many ideas and creativity, are scheduled to meet audiences.

Moon Sung-kyung, the programmer who planned the section, stated, "Due to recent repeated changes and issues, the film industry is gradually giving up even the fundamental spirit it has maintained so far, and the inequality of power concentration in the real world is becoming more evident," and pointed out the current reality of the film industry. He further mentioned, "Directors are more dedicated to the capital needed to make films than to the films themselves, and making the most important film seems to be a subsequent task." He explained, "This special exhibition, 'Towards Possible Films,' introduces those who have found solutions in this reality and their works."

A masterclass by Montse Triola, a producer who has produced all of Albert Serra's films and co-produced Alain Guiraudie's "Staying Vertical" and Jeonju Cinema Project's "Afterwater," will also be held on May 5th at Megabox Jeonju Gaeksa 1. He will share the process of achieving recognition and awards at prestigious film festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, and San Sebastian with films made by Albert Serra using unique and independent production methods.

The Jeonju International Film Festival also announced the publication of a booklet titled "Towards Possible Films," which contains the stories and artistic worlds of those heading towards possible films. A book talk to celebrate the publication of "Towards Possible Films" will also be held during the festival.
