남원시는 지난 19일 성년의 날을 맞아 남원향교(전교 김시열)에서 전통 성년례 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 남원향교 유림, 남원제일고등학교 학생, 지역 기관·단체장 등 100여 명이 참석했으며, 남학생 20명(관자), 여학생 20명(계자)이 전통한복을 입고 갓과 비녀를 착용한 채 삼가례, 초례, 수훈례, 성년선언 등의 전통 예식을 엄숙하게 치렀다.

시 관계자는 “성년이 된 학생들의 찬란한 미래를 응원하며, 사회의 일원으로 자긍심과 책임감을 갖고 성장하길 바란다”고 축하를 전했다.

한편, 남원시는 성년의 날을 기념해 5월 16일부터 23일까지 시내 전광판을 통해 축하 메시지를 송출하며 분위기를 더하고 있다.

Namwon City announced that they held a traditional coming-of-age ceremony at Namwon Hyanggyo (Principal Kim Si-yeol) on May 19th in celebration of Coming-of-Age Day.

About 100 people, including students from Namwon Hyanggyo, Namwon Jeil High School, and local officials and organization leaders, attended the event. Twenty male students (Gwanja) and twenty female students (Gyeja) wore traditional hanbok attire, along with hats and hairpins, and solemnly performed traditional rituals such as paying respects, offering bows, receiving advice, making declarations of adulthood, and more.

An official from the city expressed congratulations, stating, "We support the bright future of these students who have come of age and hope they will grow with pride and a sense of responsibility as members of society."

In commemoration of Coming-of-Age Day, Namwon City has been displaying congratulatory messages on city billboards from May 16th to 23rd to enhance the celebratory atmosphere.
