대한민국 최고 권위의 국악 경연대회인 전주대사습놀이가 오는 7일 3주간의 대장정에 돌입한다.

전주시와 (사)전주대사습놀이보존회는 7일부터 30일까지 전주대사습청, 국립무형유산원 등 전주 일원에서 ‘제51회 전주대사습놀이 전국대회 및 제43회 학생전국대회’를 개최한다.

전주대사습놀이는 ‘소리의 고장’ 전주에서 펼쳐지는 대표 국악 경연대회로, 명실상부한 국악 인재 등용문이자 전통예술과 시민이 함께하는 대규모 문화축제로 자리매김해 왔다.

올해는 ‘지화자’를 주제로 열리며, 전주시와 전주대사습놀이보존회가 주최하고 전주대사습놀이조직위원회(대표 송재영), ㈜문화방송, 전주MBC가 공동 주관해 다채로운 경연과 공연을 선보일 예정이다.

전국대회는 ▲판소리명창부 ▲농악부 ▲무용명인부 ▲민요명인부 ▲고법명고부 ▲가야금병창명인부 등 총 13개 부문으로 나뉘어 진행되며, 대장정의 첫 무대는 7일 천양정에서 열리는 궁도부 경연으로 시작된다.

대회의 하이라이트인 일반부 종합 본선은 오는 30일에 개최된다. 이날 판소리명창부, 무용명인부 등 주요 5개 부문 본선 경연과 시상식은 MBC를 통해 전국에 생중계된다.

또한 ‘제43회 학생 전국대회’는 판소리, 농악, 관악, 현악, 무용, 고법 등 10개 부문으로 구성되며, 14일 관악·현악부 경연을 시작으로 다양한 무대가 이어진다. 학생대회 본선은 29일 국립무형유산원에서 주요 6개 부문 경연과 시상식으로 마무리된다.

경연 외에도 시민과 관광객이 함께할 수 있는 축제의 장도 마련된다. 28일 오후 6시 전주시청 노송광장에서 개막식과 축하공연이 어우러진 전야제가 펼쳐지고, 29일에는 대회 관계자들이 모여 교류하는 리셉션 행사가 라한호텔에서 열린다.

특히 14일부터 25일까지는 한옥마을 전주대사습청에서 장원자와 명인·명창이 참여하는 특별 기획공연 ‘장원자의 밤: 전설을 잇다’가 시민들을 맞이한다.

이 밖에도 ▲6월 12일 전통문화전당에서 학술포럼 ▲SNS 축제 공모전 등 국악 대중화를 위한 다채로운 연계 행사가 펼쳐지며, 전주의 전통문화 위상을 다시금 알릴 예정이다.

한편, 대회 참가 신청은 지난달 20일부터 이달 9일까지 받고 있으며, 판소리 명창부 본선 심사를 위한 청중평가단도 17일까지 공개 모집 중이다.

전주시 문화체육관광국 노은영 국장은 “대한민국 대표 국악 경연인 전주대사습놀이를 통해 미래 국악 인재 발굴과 함께 시민이 주체가 되는 화합의 장이 마련되길 바란다”며 “많은 시민 여러분의 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

Korea's most prestigious traditional music competition, the Jeonju Daesaseupnori, will kick off its three-week grand event on the 7th.

Jeonju City and the Jeonju Daesaseupnori Preservation Association will host the "51st Jeonju Daesaseupnori National Competition and the 43rd Student National Competition" from the 7th to the 30th at various locations in Jeonju, including Jeonju Daesaseupnori Hall and the National Intangible Heritage Center.

The Jeonju Daesaseupnori is a representative traditional music competition held in Jeonju, known as the "hometown of sound," and has established itself as a major cultural festival where talented traditional musicians and citizens come together.

This year's theme is "Jihwaja," and it is organized by Jeonju City, the Jeonju Daesaseupnori Preservation Association, and the Jeonju Daesaseupnori Organizing Committee, with Culture Broadcasting Corporation, Jeonju MBC, as co-hosts, promising a diverse range of competitions and performances.

The national competition will feature a total of 13 sections, including Pansori, Nongak, Dance, Folk Song, Instrumental Music, and Gayageum, with the first stage of the grand event starting with the Archery Competition on the 7th at Cheonyangjeong.

The highlight of the competition, the comprehensive finals for the general section, will be held on the 30th. The finals of the major five sections, including Pansori and Dance, will be broadcast live nationwide through MBC.

Additionally, the "43rd Student National Competition" consists of ten sections, including Pansori, Nongak, Court Music, String Instrument, Dance, and Instrumental Music, starting with the Court Music and String Instrument Competition on the 14th. The finals of the student competition will conclude on the 29th at the National Intangible Heritage Center.

In addition to the competitions, festival events for citizens and tourists will be available. An opening ceremony and congratulatory performance will take place at Nosong Square in Jeonju City Hall on the 28th at 6 p.m., and a reception event for officials will be held at the Rahant Hotel on the 29th.

Especially from the 14th to the 25th, a special performance titled "Jangwonja's Night: Continuing the Legend," featuring Jangwonja and renowned artists, will be held at Jeonju Daesaseupnori Hall in Hanok Village, welcoming the citizens.

Furthermore, various events aimed at popularizing traditional music, such as a scholarly forum at the Traditional Culture Center on June 12 and an SNS Festival Contest, will be held to promote Jeonju's traditional cultural status.

Applications for participation in the competition were accepted from the 20th of last month until the 9th of this month, and the audience evaluation team for the Pansori section finals will be recruited until the 17th.

Noh Eun-young, Director of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department of Jeonju City, expressed hopes for the Jeonju Daesaseupnori, stating, "Through the Jeonju Daesaseupnori, Korea's representative traditional music competition, we hope to create a stage for harmony where citizens take the lead, along with discovering future talents in traditional music," and urged for the interest and participation of many citizens.
