전주기전대학(총장 조희천)이 전주시와 함께 추진 중인 ‘반려동물 전문인력 양성사업’의 기초 과정인 ‘반려동물관리사 양성과정’이 지난 13일 수료식을 열고 마무리됐다.

이번 과정에는 전주시민 20명이 참여해 총 8주간 48시간의 이론·실습 교육을 이수했으며, 전원 ‘반려동물관리사’ 자격을 취득했다. 교육은 전문 교수진의 강의와 수강생이 직접 반려동물을 동반해 참여하는 실습 위주로 진행돼 높은 만족도를 얻었다.

김원 반려동물과 학과장은 “차별화된 실습 중심 교육을 통해 실질적 역량을 키울 수 있었다”며 “오는 9월부터는 반려견 훈련사와 창업자 양성과정 등 심화 과정도 운영할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 반려동물 산업의 성장에 발맞춰 취·창업 기회를 확대하고, 생명 존중 문화 확산을 목표로 하고 있다.

Chonju Technical University (President Jo Hee-cheon) recently concluded the basic course of the 'Pet Care Specialist Training Program' being jointly pursued with the city of Jeonju. The 'Pet Care Specialist Training Course' held its graduation ceremony on the 13th.

In this program, 20 Jeonju citizens completed a total of 48 hours of theory and practical training over 8 weeks, all obtaining the qualification of 'Pet Care Specialist.' The education, which was highly satisfactory, was conducted with a focus on practical training where students participated with their pets, along with lectures by professional instructors.

Kim Won, the head of the Pet Care Department, stated, "Through differentiated practical training, we were able to enhance practical skills," and added, "Starting from September, we plan to operate advanced courses such as training for dog trainers and entrepreneurship."

This initiative aims to expand career and entrepreneurial opportunities in the pet industry in line with its growth, and to promote a culture of respecting life.
