전북특별자치도소방본부는 도내 농어촌 일손 부족 해소를 위해 고용된 외국인 계절 근로자 1,321명을 대상으로 3월부터 5월까지 소방안전교육을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 교육은 군산·익산·정읍·김제·완주·진안·장수·임실·순창 등 9개 시군에서 출장 방식으로 진행됐으며, 각 소방서가 지역 사업장을 직접 방문해 실시했다. 교육은 119 신고요령, 소화기 사용법, 피난대피 요령 등을 중심으로 다국어 교재와 외국인용 리플릿을 활용해 진행됐고, 심폐소생술 실습과 119 통역서비스 안내도 포함됐다.

입국 국적은 베트남이 602명으로 가장 많았으며, 이어 캄보디아(283명), 기타 국가(218명), 태국(105명), 필리핀(63명), 라오스(50명) 순이었다.

이오숙 도 소방본부장은 “낯선 환경 속 근로자들이 안전하게 생활할 수 있도록 선제적으로 교육을 실시했다”며 “앞으로도 현장 중심의 안전 정책을 지속적으로 확대하겠다”고 밝혔다.

소방본부는 하반기 추가 입국 시점에 맞춰 2차 교육도 이어갈 계획이다.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Headquarters announced that they conducted fire safety education for 1,321 foreign seasonal workers employed to address the labor shortage in rural areas of the province from March to May.

The education took place in a business trip format in 9 cities and counties including Gunsan, Iksan, Jeongeup, Gimje, Wanju, Jinan, Jangsu, Imsil, and Suncheon, where each fire station directly visited local workplaces to conduct the training. The education focused on 119 reporting procedures, how to use fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures, and utilized multilingual textbooks and leaflets for foreigners. It also included hands-on CPR training and guidance on 119 interpretation services.

Among the workers, the most were from Vietnam with 602, followed by Cambodia (283), other countries (218), Thailand (105), the Philippines (63), and Laos (50).

Jeong Oh-sook, the head of the provincial fire headquarters, stated, "We conducted proactive education to ensure that foreign workers can live safely in unfamiliar environments," and added, "We will continue to expand safety policies focused on the field."

The Fire Headquarters plans to continue with a second round of education in the latter half of the year to align with the timing of additional arrivals.
