군산시 발달장애인 평생학습관이 24일 채만식문학관에서 ‘40~50대 발달장애 성인의 안정된 삶과 주거’를 주제로 보호자 교육을 실시했다. 이번 교육에는 수강생 보호자 25명이 참여해 발달장애 성인의 노후와 주거 문제에 대한 높은 관심을 보였다.

강의는 익산의 발달장애인 공동생활가정 ‘작은 자매의 집’에서 11년간 활동해 온 원종훈(요셉 다미아노) 신부가 맡았다. 원 신부는 공동생활가정, 자립주택 등 현실적인 주거 형태와 지역사회 연계 방안, 가족의 심리적 준비와 지원 방식 등을 실제 경험을 바탕으로 진솔하게 전달했다.

특히 강의 후 진행된 질의응답 시간에서는 보호자들과 직접 고민을 나누고, 서로의 이야기를 공유하며 공감대를 형성하는 시간이 마련돼 큰 호응을 얻었다.

군산시 교육지원과 관계자는 “장애 성인의 안정된 삶과 주거 문제는 더 이상 미룰 수 없는 중요한 과제”라며 “앞으로도 보호자와 함께하는 실질적인 교육을 꾸준히 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 군산시 발달장애인 평생학습관은 발달장애인의 평생학습권 보장과 자립적 삶을 위한 다양한 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 보호자와 지역사회의 협력을 기반으로 지속 가능한 학습 환경 조성에 힘쓰고 있다.

The Lifelong Learning Center for Developmentally Disabled Individuals in Gunsan City conducted a caregiver education session on the theme of "Stable Life and Housing for Developmentally Disabled Adults in their 40s and 50s" at the Chaeman-sik Literature Museum on the 24th. In this session, 25 caregiver participants showed a high level of interest in the issues of aging and housing for developmentally disabled adults.

The lecture was led by Father Won Jong-hoon (Joseph Damiano), who has been active for 11 years at the developmental disabled group home "Little Sister's House" in Iksan. Father Won delivered practical experiences on communal living arrangements, independent housing options, ways to connect with the local community, as well as psychological preparation and support for families.

Especially during the Q&A session that followed the lecture, participants engaged in sharing their concerns, stories, and forming a sense of empathy, which received a positive response.

An official from the Gunsan City Education Support Department stated, "Ensuring a stable life and housing for disabled adults is an important task that cannot be delayed any longer," and expressed the commitment to continue providing practical education sessions for caregivers.
