국립새만금간척박물관(관장 김항술)은 31일 ‘제3회 전국 어린이 글짓기 대회 시상식’과 ‘새만금 세계로!’행사를 박물관에서 개최했다.

이번 대회는 전국 초등학생들이 새만금의 미래에 대한 희망을 글로 표현한 행사로, 수상자와 학부형을 비롯하여 새만금개발청 조홍남 차장, 새만금개발공사 나경균 사장, 전북일보 윤석정 사장 등이 참석하여 자리를 빛냈다.

심사위원장인 박동규 서울대학교 명예교수는 “어린이들의 글에는 새만금의 미래를 향한 순수한 시선이 담겨 있다”며, “이들이야말로 새만금의 진정한 주인공”이라고 평가했다.

특히 올해부터는 새만금의 미래에 대한 희망이 담겨 있는 어린이들의 작품을 영문화하여 세계인과 함께하는 무대를 만들었다. 이를 통해 세계의 새만금으로 나아가는 발걸음이 될 것으로 기대된다.

이어 다양한 문화 프로그램으로 시상식을 더욱 풍성하게 했다. 축하공연으로 성악가 석상근의 무대와 서예가 홍한표의 ‘새만금 세계로’ 휘호 퍼포먼스가 진행되어 갈채를 받았고, 박물관 야외 잔디광장에서는 어린이와 함께 ‘희망 비행기 띄우기’가 펼쳐졌다.

The National Saemangeum Reclamation Museum (Director Kim Hang-sul) held the '3rd National Children's Writing Contest Awards Ceremony' and the event 'Into the World of Saemangeum!' at the museum on the 31st.

This competition was an event where elementary school students from across the country expressed their hopes for the future of Saemangeum through writing. The event was brightened by the presence of winners and sponsors, as well as officials from the Saemangeum Development Agency, including Vice Chairman Jo Hong-nam, President Na Kyung-gyun of the Saemangeum Development Corporation, and President Yoon Seok-jeong of the Jeonbuk Ilbo.

Park Dong-gyu, the head judge and honorary professor at Seoul National University, commented, "Children's writings contain a pure perspective towards the future of Saemangeum," and evaluated them as "the true protagonists of Saemangeum."

Starting this year, children's works containing hopes for the future of Saemangeum have been translated into English to create a stage for sharing with people around the world. It is expected that this will be a step towards Saemangeum becoming a global destination.

Furthermore, the awards ceremony was enriched with various cultural programs. A congratulatory performance by tenor Seok Sang-geun and a calligraphy performance titled 'Into the World of Saemangeum' by calligrapher Hong Han-pyo received applause. Additionally, at the museum's outdoor lawn square, children participated in 'Launching Hopeful Paper Airplanes' together.
