전주시가 장쓰레기를 일반쓰레기 소각용 봉투에 담아 배출하는 행위를 오는 12월 중순까지 한시적으로 허용한다.

시는 김장철을 맞아 음식물쓰레기 배출량이 일시적으로 증가함에 따라 시민 불편을 최소화하기 위해 이 같은 내용을 골자로 김장쓰레기 처리 대책을 추진한다고 10일 밝혔다.

시는 김장철 동안 음식물쓰레기 발생량이 평균 발생량(214톤/일)보다 약 40톤(11%) 늘어난 241톤 이상이 더 배출될 것으로 예상하고 있다.

이에 따라 시는 수거운반 및 처리 지연으로 인한 시민들의 불편을 예방하기 위해 본격적인 김장철이 시작되는 이달 중순부터 오는 12월 중순까지 약 한 달 동안 한시적으로 김장쓰레기를 50L짜리 일반쓰레기 소각용 봉투에 담아 배출할 수 있도록 허용키로 했다.

각 가정에서는 김장쓰레기가 많이 발생해 음식물 수거용기가 부족한 경우에는 음식물쓰레기 전용봉투(20L, 분홍색)를 사용하거나, 일반쓰레기 소각용 봉투(50L, 흰색)에 담아 배출하면 된다.

단, 음식물쓰레기와 일반쓰레기를 혼합 배출할 경우에는 최대 100만 원 이하의 과태료가 부과될 수 있어 주의해야 한다.

또한 마대자루와 노끈, 양파망, 흙이 묻은 채소 겉잎 등은 일반쓰레기에 해당하며, 절인 배추와 무, 젓갈류, 양념 묻은 채소 등은 음식물쓰레기로 잘게 썰어 물기를 최대한 제거해 배출하면 된다.

특히 김치통과 양파망, 주방도구 등 이물질이 음식물처리시설에 혼입될 경우에는 기계가 고장이 나거나, 운영이 중단돼 처리가 지연될 수 있는 만큼 이물질은 반드시 제거 후 배출해야 한다.

To prevent inconvenience to citizens due to delays in collection and disposal, the city has decided to temporarily allow the disposal of kimchi waste in 50-liter general waste incineration bags from mid-November, when the kimchi-making season officially starts, until mid-December.

In households where a large amount of kimchi waste is generated and there is a shortage of food waste collection containers, residents can use food waste-specific bags (20 liters, pink) or dispose of the waste in general waste incineration bags (50 liters, white).

However, it is important to note that a fine of up to 1 million won may be imposed if food waste and general waste are mixed during disposal.

Additionally, items such as straw ropes, onion nets, outer leaves of vegetables with soil, etc., fall under general waste. Pickled cabbage, radishes, fermented seafood, and vegetables with seasoning should be finely chopped, with moisture removed, and disposed of as food waste.

In particular, foreign substances such as kimchi containers, onion nets, and kitchen utensils should be removed before disposal to prevent damage or delays in operation at food waste treatment facilities.
