갑작스런 장애로 휠체어를 타게 된 영화감독이 다른 장애 부부의 일상을 담아낸 작품으로 ‘장애인 미디어 콘텐츠 공모전’ 대상을 차지했다.

방송미디어통신위원회와 시청자미디어재단은 3일 ‘세계 장애인의 날’을 맞아 서울에서 ‘2025 장애인 미디어 콘텐츠 공모전’ 시상식을 열고 수상작 12편을 발표했다.

올해로 4회째를 맞은 이번 공모전은 장애인의 미디어 참여 확대와 인식 제고를 위해 개최됐으며, ▲장애인 제작 ▲장애(인) 주제 ▲숏폼(short form) ▲장애인방송 유공 등 4개 분야에서 총 12편을 시상했다.

특히 올해는 장애인의 미디어 접근권 제고를 위해 헌신한 분들의 공로를 기리기 위해 ‘장애인방송 유공상’을 신설, 방송미디어통신위원회 위원장 상을 수여했다.

응모 대상에 기존 영상물 뿐 아니라 음성물까지 확대, 시각장애인도 참여할 수 있게 했으며, 이에 따라 지난해보다 약 11% 증가한 147편이 접수돼 장애 관련 콘텐츠 창작에 대한 관심이 지속적으로 높아지고 있음을 보여줬다.

대상 수상작에는 갑작스런 장애로 휠체어를 타게 된 영화감독이 장애인자립생활센터에서 만난 장애 부부의 일상과 가족의 따뜻한 연대를 담아낸 ‘털썩...벌떡’이 선정됐다.

조재형 씨가 제작한 해당 작품은 장애 부부가 서로를 의지하며 살아가는 모습을 따스한 시선으로 담아냈다는 평가를 받았다.

최우수상은 ▲‘시각장애인 실습생 반달 생존기 브이로그’(최소영) ▲‘천사, 배우가 되다’(한국장애인방송 연기자협회 김은경) 등 2편이, 우수상은 ‘시각장애인과 결혼한다고 하자 엄마의 반응’(밀알복지재단 알티비) 등 2편, 장려상은 ‘농담’(장애여성공감 극단 춤추는허리) 등 4편이 선정됐다.

올해 신설된 장애인방송 유공 특별상은 국내 최초로 무장벽 소리 디지털그림(배리어프리 보이스 웹툰)을 기획하고 시각장애인에게 낭독치유 강의를 제공하는 등 시각장애인의 권익 증진을 위해 기여해 온 조예신 성우가 수상했다.

수상작들은 한국방송공사(KBS) 등을 통해 방송되고, 장애인 미디어 콘텐츠 공모전 유튜브(www.youtube.com/@kcmf0515/videos)에서도 공개된다.

김영일 한국시각장애인연합회 회장 겸 한국장애인단체총연맹 공동대표는 “이번 공모전에서 오디오 작품 접수도 신설돼 시각장애인들의 활발한 참여가 있었다”면서 “모두가 함께 즐길 수 있는 미디어 콘텐츠 활성화에 한 발 더 다가가는 소중한 시간”이라고 말했다.

방미통위는 장애인과 비장애인이 함께 만들어가는 이번 공모전이 우리 사회 포용성과 건강성을 보여주는 사례라며 장애인들의 미디어 활용을 활성화 할 수 있는 정책을 확대해 나가겠다고 밝혔다.

A film director who suddenly had to use a wheelchair due to a sudden disability won the award at the 'Disability Media Content Competition' for depicting the daily lives of another disabled couple in his work.

On the occasion of the 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities,' the Korea Communications Commission and the Korea Creative Content Agency held the '2025 Disability Media Content Competition' awards ceremony in Seoul on the 3rd, announcing 12 winning works.

In its fourth year, this year's competition was held to expand the participation of disabled individuals in media and raise awareness, awarding a total of 12 works in four categories: ▲Disabled Production ▲Disabled Theme ▲Short Form ▲Contributions to Disabled Broadcasting.

Especially this year, in recognition of those who have dedicated themselves to improving the media access rights of disabled individuals, a new award, the 'Disabled Broadcasting Contribution Award,' was established, and the Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission presented the award.

The competition expanded its eligibility criteria to include not only existing video content but also audio content, allowing participation from visually impaired individuals. As a result, there was a continuous increase in interest in creating content related to disabilities, with approximately 147 works submitted, an 11% increase from the previous year.

The grand prize-winning work was 'Suddenly... Up and About,' created by director Jo Jaehyung, who, after suddenly having to use a wheelchair due to a disability, captured the daily life and warm solidarity of a disabled couple he met at a disability independent living center.

The work, produced by Jo Jaehyung, received praise for portraying the disabled couple relying on each other and living together with a warm perspective.

The top prize winners were ▲'Blind Intern Half Moon Survival Vlog' (Choi Sooyoung) and ▲'Angel Becomes an Actress' (Kim Eunkyung, Korea Disabled Actors Association), while the excellence awards went to 'Mom's Reaction to Marrying a Blind Person' (Alibi Welfare Foundation RTB) and the encouragement awards to 'Joke' (Dancing Waist, a disabled women's empathy troupe).

The newly established Special Award for Contributions to Disabled Broadcasting was awarded to voice actor Cho Yesin, who has been contributing to promoting the rights of visually impaired individuals by planning barrier-free sound digital drawings (Barrier-Free Voice Webtoon) and providing recitation therapy lectures to visually impaired individuals.

The award-winning works will be broadcasted through the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and will also be available on the Disability Media Content Competition YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@kcmf0515/videos).

Kim Young-il, Chairman of the Korea Federation of the Blind and Co-Representative of the Korea Disabled People's Federation, stated, "There was active participation from visually impaired individuals in this competition, with the addition of audio works," and emphasized that it was a valuable time to further promote the activation of media content that everyone can enjoy together.

The Korea Communications Commission expressed its intention to expand policies that can activate the use of media by disabled individuals, stating that this competition, where disabled and non-disabled individuals create together, is an example of inclusivity and healthiness in our society.
