전북작가회의는 지난 19일 정기총회를 개최했다. 60여 명의 회원이 참여한 가운데 정동철 시인을 제 13대 회장으로 추대했다.

정동철 시인은 전주 출생으로 2006년 광주일보와 전남일보 신춘문예로 작품활동을 시작했다. 출간한 시집으로는 『나타났다』, 『모롱지 설화』가 있고 미얀마 민주화 연대 시집 『붉은 꽃을 내 무덤에 놓지 마세요』를 영문 번역했다. 제16회 「불꽃문학상」과 제 3회 「작가의 눈 작품상」을 수상했다.

정동철 신임 회장은 사무처장으로 전은희 아동문학가를, 이사로 김헌수 시인, 김근혜 작가, 오복이 작가 등을 지명했다. 2026년 주요 사업으로 도민과 함께 하는 문학 산책, 초중고 백일장, 작가의 눈 발간, 전북작가회의 아카이브 구축 등을 제안했다. 문인들의 작품활동을 지원하기 위한 다양한 방안과 전북작가회의 정체성 확립을 위한 계획 등도 제시했다.

이날 정기총회에서는 12대 유강희 회장의 이임식과 함께 제18회 불꽃문학상, 제16회 작가의눈 작품상 시상식도 열렸다. 제18회 불꽃문학상은 “신유년에 핀 꽃”을 쓴 황보윤 소설가가, 제16회 작가의 눈 작품상은 ‘비린내의 집’을 발표한 박복영 시인이 수상의 영광을 안았다. 불꽃문학상과 작가의 눈 작품상 수상자에게는 각 300만 원과 100만 원의 상금과 상패가 주어졌다.

한편, 전북작가회의 역대 회장으로는 정양 시인, 최동현 시인, 김용택 시인, 임명진 평론가, 이병천 소설가, 안도현 시인, 복효근 시인, 김병용 소설가, 김종필 아동문학가, 이병초 시인, 김자연 아동문학가, 유강희 시인 등이 활동했다.

Poet Jung Dong-cheol, born in Jeonju, began his literary career in 2006 with works in the Gwangju Ilbo and Jeonnam Ilbo New Spring Literary Contest. His published poetry collections include "Appeared," "Thorny Folktales," and an English translation of the Myanmar democratization solidarity poetry collection "Do Not Put Red Flowers on My Grave." He has won the 16th Flame Literary Award and the 3rd Writer's Eye Art Award.

As the new president, Jung Dong-cheol appointed Jeon Eun-hee, a children's literature writer, as the office manager, and poets Kim Heon-soo, Kim Geun-hye, and writers Oh Bok-i as directors. He proposed literary walks with local residents, school festivals for elementary and middle schools, publication of Writer's Eye, and the establishment of the Jeonbuk Writers' Conference Archive as major projects for 2026. He also presented various plans to support writers' literary activities and establish the identity of the Jeonbuk Writers' Conference.

At the general meeting that day, there was an inauguration ceremony for the outgoing 12th president, Yu Kang-hee, as well as the award ceremony for the 18th Flame Literary Award and the 16th Writer's Eye Art Award. Novelist Hwang Bo-yoon, who wrote "Flowers Bloom in the New Year," won the 18th Flame Literary Award, while poet Park Bok-yeong, who presented "The Smell of Bile," was honored with the 16th Writer's Eye Art Award. The winners of the Flame Literary Award and Writer's Eye Art Award received prize money and plaques worth 3 million won and 1 million won, respectively.

Former presidents of the Jeonbuk Writers' Conference include poets Jung Yang, Choi Dong-hyun, Kim Yong-taek, critic Im Myeong-jin, novelist Lee Byeong-cheon, poets Ahn Do-hyun, Bok Hyo-geun, Kim Byeong-yong, children's literature writer Kim Jong-pil, poets Lee Byeong-cho, Kim Ja-yeon, and Yu Kang-hee.
