한국장애인개발원 전북특별자치도장애아동·발달장애인지원센터(센터장 백재경, 이하 전북센터)가 도내 발달장애인과 보호자, 사회복지 종사자 등을 대상으로 진행한 ‘2026년 찾아가는 발달장애인 공공후견지원 사업설명회’를 성공적으로 마쳤다고 28일 밝혔다.

지난 7월 21일 꿈마을주간보호센터를 시작으로 8월 27일까지 진행된 이번 설명회는 한국장애인부모회 정읍시지부, 고창군장애인주간이용시설 등 도내 6개 기관·단체를 순회하는 방식으로 개최됐다. 현장에는 발달장애인 당사자와 가족, 현장 종사자 등 총 100여 명이 참석해 높은 관심을 보였다.

이번 설명회는 의사결정에 어려움을 겪는 전북지역 성인 발달장애인의 권리를 보호하는 공공후견지원 사업을 알리고, 성년후견제도와 법원 심판청구 절차에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해 마련됐다. 주요 내용으로는 ▲민법상 성년후견제도의 종류 ▲발달장애인 공공후견지원 사업의 주요 내용 및 신청 절차 등이 다뤄졌다.

백재경 전북센터장은 “이번 설명회를 계기로 도내 성인 발달장애인이 지역사회에서 안정적으로 자립생활을 이어갈 수 있기를 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 공공후견사업이 필요한 대상자를 적극 발굴하고, 유관기관과의 협력체계를 견고히 유지해 나가겠다”고 전했다.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Children and Developmental Disability Support Center of the Korea Development Institute for the Disabled (Director Baek Jae-kyung, hereinafter referred to as the Jeonbuk Center) announced on the 28th that they successfully concluded the "2026 Developmental Disability Public Guardianship Support Program Explanation Meeting" targeting developmental disabled individuals, guardians, social welfare workers, and others in the province.

Starting from the Dream Village Day Care Center on July 21st and running until August 27th, this explanation meeting, which was held in a touring format visiting six organizations and groups in the province including the Jeonbuk branch of the Korean Association of Parents with Disabilities and the Gochang County Disability Day Care Facility, attracted over 100 participants including developmental disabled individuals, families, and on-site workers, showing high interest.

This explanation meeting was organized to raise awareness about the public guardianship support program that protects the rights of adult developmental disabled individuals in Jeonbuk who face difficulties in decision-making, and to help understand the adult guardianship system and the court adjudication process. Key topics covered included the types of adult guardianship systems under the Civil Code, as well as the main contents and application procedures of the developmental disability public guardianship support program.

Director Baek Jae-kyung of the Jeonbuk Center stated, "We hope that adult developmental disabled individuals in the province can continue to lead stable independent lives in the local community through this explanation meeting," and added, "We will actively identify individuals in need of public guardianship support in the future and maintain a solid cooperation system with relevant agencies."

Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Center continues to promote the public guardianship support program for adult developmental disabled individuals in need of decision-making assistance in accordance with Article 9 of the "Act on the Protection and Support for Persons with Developmental Disabilities."
