국내 최대 규모의 장애인 종합체육대회 ‘제46회 전국장애인체육대회(이하 전국장애인체전)’가 11일부터 16일까지 제주특별자치도 일원에서 열린다.

‘전국장애인체전’은 1981년에 시작된 대회로서 올해는 역대 최초로 제주에서 개최된다. 올해 대회는 제주특별자치도, 제주특별자치도교육청, 제주특별자치도장애인체육회가 주관하며, ‘빛나는 제주에서 함께 뛰는 대한민국’이라는 구호 아래, 도내 39개 경기장에서 31개 종목(육성 25개, 보급 23개)의 경기가 펼쳐진다.

이번 대회에는 전국 17개 시도 선수단과 재미한인체육단체 선수단 등 총 9천2백여 명이 참가한다. 특히 이 대회가 10월에 열리는 ‘2026 아이치-나고야 아시안패러게임(이하 아시안패러게임)’을 앞둔 전초전 성격을 띠는 대회인 만큼, 아시안패러게임에서 활약할 국가대표 선수들의 모습도 함께 만나볼 수 있다.

이번 대회의 모든 경기는 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있으며, 보치아‧탁구‧배드민턴 결승 경기는 한국방송 1채널(KBS1)로도 시청할 수 있다. 개회식·폐회식과 전 종목 경기는 대한장애인체육회 인터넷 방송(KPC-TV, www.kpc-tv.kr)에서 볼 수 있다. 종목별 경기 일정과 장소 등 자세한 정보는 대회 공식 누리집(https://jejusports.kr/46/index.htm)에서 확인할 수 있다.

The 46th National Disabled Sports Competition, the largest comprehensive sports event for people with disabilities in South Korea, will be held from the 11th to the 16th in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

The 'National Disabled Sports Competition' started in 1981 and is being held in Jeju for the first time in its history this year. The event is organized by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Disabled Sports Association. Under the slogan 'Running Together in Shining Jeju, Korea,' the competition will feature 31 events (25 nurturing, 23 popularizing) across 39 venues in the province.

A total of around 9,200 participants from 17 provinces nationwide, as well as teams from fun sports organizations for the disabled, will take part in this event. Particularly, as a prelude to the '2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games' to be held in October, this competition will showcase the performances of national team athletes who will compete in the Asian Para Games.

All matches of this competition are open to the public for free, and the finals of boccia, table tennis, and badminton can also be watched on Korea Broadcasting Channel 1 (KBS1).
