문화체육관광부(는 최근 선수들의 경기력에 영향을 끼쳐 논란이 된 축구장의 잔디 관리 문제를 해결하기 위해 한국프로축구연맹(이하 연맹)과 함께 케이리그 경기가 열리는 축구장 총 27곳의 잔디 상태를 전수조사한다.

현재 문체부와 연맹은 연맹 내에 잔디관리 전담부서를 특별히 신설해 일본 등 선진사례 조사에 착수했다. 4월부터 케이리그 경기장을 조사해 상반기 중 잔디 상태 문제점과 원인을 분석하고, 경기장별 맞춤형 개선 방안을 도출할 예정이다.

특히 경기장의 특성과 기후 조건 등을 고려해 ▴노후화된 잔디 교체와 인조 잔디 품질 개선, ▴열선 및 배수시설 관리 등 실질적인 개선 방안을 도출하고, 장기적인 잔디 유지·관리 지침 마련과 현장 점검 강화 등을 제안할 계획이다. 또한 문체부는 올해부터 공공체육시설 개·보수 지원 공모사업을 통해 지자체와 함께 축구장 잔디 교체 등 경기장 개선을 적극 지원하고, 추후 전수조사 대상 경기장을 확대할 예정이다.

문체부 정책 담당자는 “경기장의 잔디 상태는 선수들의 경기력뿐만 아니라 부상 방지, 팬들의 관람 만족도 등 경기의 전체적인 품질과도 직결된다”라며, “이번 조사를 통해 경기장의 잔디 상태를 실질적으로 개선하는 방안을 도출하고, 연맹과 구단, 경기장 운영 주체 등과의 협력·소통을 강화해 지속적인 관리 체계를 마련하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) will conduct a comprehensive survey on the condition of the grass in 27 football stadiums where K-League matches are held, in cooperation with the Korea Professional Football Federation (KPFF), to resolve the issue of the grass management in football stadiums that has recently caused controversy affecting the performance of the players.

Currently, the MCST and the KPFF have established a special department dedicated to grass management within the federation and have begun investigating advanced cases in Japan and other countries. From April, they will investigate the K-League stadiums and analyze the problems and causes of the grass condition during the first half of the year, and plan to derive customized improvement measures for each stadium.

In particular, considering the characteristics of the stadium and climate conditions, they plan to propose practical improvement measures such as replacing the aged grass and improving the quality of artificial grass, managing heating lines and drainage facilities, and preparing long-term grass maintenance and management guidelines and strengthening field inspections. In addition, the MCST plans to actively support the improvement of stadiums, such as replacing the grass in football stadiums, through the public sports facility construction and repair support project from this year, and to expand the scope of the comprehensive survey in the future.

A policy official at the MCST said, "The condition of the grass in the stadium is directly related to not only the players' performance but also injury prevention and the overall quality of the game, including the satisfaction of the fans," and added, "Through this survey, we will derive measures to actually improve the condition of the grass in the stadium and strengthen cooperation and communication with the federation, clubs, and stadium operators to establish a continuous management system."
