The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 27th that it has revised the terms of the teacher protection deduction to enhance the legal stability of teachers and strengthen protection for teachers who have suffered harm.

With this revision, the chairpersons of private kindergartens and private schools are now included in the support for deductions, enabling stable responses in case of legal disputes such as child abuse. Previously, compensation was not available if criminal charges were recognized by investigative agencies, but from now on, it will be possible to provide protection even during prosecution deferment based on the final judgment of the court.

In civil lawsuits, the limit on attorney fees has been adjusted according to the amount of the lawsuit, making contracts smoother. Additionally, a new support of up to 500,000 won for medical expenses will be provided for bodily injuries incurred during general educational activities that are not related to abuse of authority.

According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education, since the introduction of the teacher protection deduction in 2018 until 2023, 8 cases were supported with approximately 38 million won in compensation. However, with the revision of the terms last year, the number increased significantly to 24 cases with 115 million won in compensation.

The revised terms will be applied from April 1st and will be operated through the School Safety Deduction Committee.
