전북특별자치도가 영유아 돌봄 사각지대를 해소하기 위해 전국 최초로 ‘전북형 SOS 돌봄센터’를 도입한다.

도는 가정양육 영유아에게도 24시간 돌봄서비스를 제공하기 위해 기존 시간제 보육의 이용 대상과 이용시간을 확대한다. 이에 따라 이용 대상은 생후 6개월5세로, 이용시간은 평일 24시간, 주말‧공휴일 오전 9시오후 6시까지로 확대된다.

올해는 익산시에서 시범 운영되며, ‘딩동댕 어린이집(원장 김점순)’이 첫 운영기관으로 선정됐다. 센터는 접근성과 안전성이 뛰어난 위치에 자리해 돌봄 공백 해소에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

아울러 도는 시간제 보육반도 59개에서 86개로 확대해 보호자의 단기적 보육 수요도 충족할 계획이다.

황철호 전북도 복지여성보건국장은 “전북형 SOS 돌봄센터가 안심 보육 환경을 조성하는 데 기여하길 바라며, 앞으로도 세심한 보육 정책을 통해 아이들이 건강하게 자랄 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province is introducing the 'North Jeolla-style SOS Care Center', the first of its kind in the country, to address blind spots in childcare for young children.

To provide 24-hour care services to infants and toddlers being raised at home, the province is expanding the target users and hours of the existing hourly childcare system. Accordingly, the target users will be infants aged 6 months to 5 years old, and the service hours will be extended to 24 hours on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

This year, the pilot operation will begin in Iksan City, with the 'Ding Dong Dang Kindergarten' (Director Kim Jeom-soon) selected as the first operating institution. The center is expected to contribute to filling the childcare gap as it is located in a highly accessible and safe location.

Additionally, the province plans to expand the number of hourly childcare classes from 59 to 86 to meet short-term childcare needs of parents.

Hwang Cheol-ho, Director of the Welfare Women's Health Department of North Jeolla Province, expressed his hope that the North Jeolla-style SOS Care Center will contribute to creating a safe childcare environment, and stated, "We will continue to implement meticulous childcare policies to ensure that children can grow up healthy."
