전국의 한지 공예인들이 그간 갈고닦은 솜씨와 열정을 마음껏 뽐낼 수 있는 자리가 마련된다.

전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)은 한지공예의 아름다움과 우수성을 널리 알리기 위해 개최되는 ‘제31회 전국한지공예대전’의 공모요강을 확정하고, 본격적인 출품작 모집에 나섰다고 밝혔다.

전국한지공예대전은 천년 한지의 고장인 전주에서 매년 개최되는 전국 단위의 행사로, 올해로 31회를 맞는다. 전통과 현대를 아우르는 다양한 한지공예 작품을 통해 국내외에 한지문화의 깊이와 가치를 전해온 이 대전은, 명실상부한 한지공예 작가들의 대표적인 창작 무대로 자리매김해왔다.

이번 공모는 총 3개 부문으로 나뉜다. △전통 부문에는 지호, 지승, 색지, 지장, 지화, 부채, 수록지 등이 포함되며, △현대 부문은 한지조형, 의상, 닥종이인형, 한지그림, 한지부조, 한지등, 한지종이접기, 낙화 등을 아우른다. △문화상품 및 기타 부문에서는 문화상품을 비롯해 민화를 응용한 한지공예, 창작한지, 응용한지 등이 포함된다.

시상 규모 또한 역대 최대다. 대상 1명을 비롯해 최우수상 2명, 우수상 3명, 장려상 5명, 특별상 15명을 포함한 총 26명에게 상장과 함께 총 3,500만 원의 상금이 수여된다.

특히 올해는 대상 시상금을 증액함으로써 공예작가들의 참여 의욕을 높일 계획이다.

공모 참여자는 전주문화재단 누리집(jjcf.or.kr)에서 지원서를 내려받아 작성한 후, 9월 12일부터 14일까지 3일간 작품과 함께 직접 방문해 제출하면 된다.

입상작은 10월 한 달 동안 한국전통문화전당 기획전시실에 전시되며, 시상식은 전주국제한지산업대전 개막식과 함께 진행될 예정이다.

노영혜 전국한지공예대전 운영위원장은 “이번 공예대전이 전국의 뛰어난 공예인들이 갈고닦은 솜씨를 마음껏 뽐내는 자리가 되길 기대한다”며 “우수한 작품들이 대거 출품돼 시민들에게도 수준 높은 문화 향유의 기회가 될 수 있도록 준비에 만전을 기하겠다”고 밝혔다.

최락기 전주문화재단 대표이사는 “전국한지공예대전은 천년을 이어온 한지의 아름다움을 오늘에 전하는 소중한 문화예술의 장”라며 “올해는 전주국제한지산업대전과 연계해 국내외에 한지문화의 진가를 더욱 널리 알릴 계획”이라고 전했다.

Artisans of traditional Korean paper craft from all over the country will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and passion to the fullest.

The Jeonju Cultural Foundation (CEO Choi Rak-gi) has finalized the guidelines for the '31st National Hanji Craft Competition' to promote the beauty and excellence of Hanji crafts, and has begun the official recruitment of entries.

The National Hanji Craft Competition is a nationwide event held annually in Jeonju, the home of millennium-old Hanji paper, and this year marks its 31st edition. This competition, which showcases a variety of Hanji craftworks blending tradition and modernity, has established itself as a prominent stage for leading Hanji craft artists to convey the depth and value of Hanji culture domestically and internationally.

This year's competition is divided into three categories: △Traditional category includes paper folding, paper cutting, paper dyeing, paper weaving, paper painting, fans, and scrolls, while △Modern category encompasses Hanji sculpture, clothing, paper dolls, paper art, paper mosaics, paper folding, and paintings. △The Cultural Products and Other category includes cultural products, Hanji crafts incorporating folk paintings, creative Hanji works, and applied Hanji works.

The scale of awards this year is the largest ever. A total of 26 awards will be presented, including 1 Grand Prize, 2 Best Awards, 3 Excellence Awards, 5 Encouragement Awards, and 15 Special Awards, with a total prize money of 35 million won.

In particular, this year, there are plans to increase the Grand Prize award amount to boost the enthusiasm of craft artists.

Participants can download the application form from the Jeonju Cultural Foundation website (jjcf.or.kr), fill it out, and submit their works in person along with the form from September 12 to 14 for three days.

The award-winning works will be exhibited at the Korea Traditional Culture Center exhibition hall for a month in October, and the award ceremony is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Jeonju International Hanji Industry Fair.

Noh Young-hye, the head of the National Hanji Craft Competition organizing committee, expressed hopes that "this year's craft competition will be a platform for outstanding artisans from across the country to showcase their honed skills to the fullest," and stated, "We will make every effort in preparation to provide citizens with the opportunity to enjoy high-quality cultural experiences through the submission of excellent works."

Choi Rak-gi, CEO of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, described the National Hanji Craft Competition as "a valuable cultural and artistic platform for transmitting the beauty of millennium-old Hanji to the present," and stated, "This year, we plan to further promote the true value of Hanji culture domestically and internationally in connection with the Jeonju International Hanji Industry Fair."
