국립군산대학교가 학년·학점·횟수 제한을 없앤 ‘무제한 전과제도’를 바탕으로 글로컬대학30에 도전장을 내밀어 주목받고 있다.

군산대는 지난해부터 전국 국립대 최초로 3무(無) 전과 제도를 도입해, 2024학년도 1학기부터 본격 시행 중이다. 이 제도는 학년, 취득학점 및 평점, 전과 횟수 제한 없이 학생이 원하는 전공으로 자유롭게 이동할 수 있도록 보장한다.

2024학년도에는 198명이 제도를 활용해 전과를 신청했으며, 이는 전년도 대비 230% 증가한 수치다. 만족도도 96%에 달해 자율전공 선택제가 성공적으로 정착한 것으로 나타났다.

전과 신청은 온라인 통합정보시스템을 통해 가능하며, 이후 아카데믹 어드바이저와의 상담과 교육혁신처의 승인을 거쳐 최종 확정된다. 오는 2025학년도 1학기부터는 ‘전공·진로 가이던스센터’도 운영되어 전과 지원체계를 더욱 강화할 예정이다.

아카데믹 어드바이저는 교원, 조교, 미들맨, 산업계 전문가 등이 참여하며, 학생들의 진로 설정과 전공 선택을 맞춤형으로 지원한다.

오정근 글로컬대학추진단장은 “군산대의 무제한 전과제도는 이미 자율전공 시스템의 진화 모델을 실현한 사례”라며 “다른 대학과도 노하우를 공유하며 지역대학 혁신을 이끌겠다”고 밝혔다.

National Gunsan University is gaining attention for issuing a challenge to the "Glocal University 30" based on its 'Unlimited Change of Major System' that eliminates restrictions on grade, credits, and number of changes.

Since last year, Gunsan University has been the first national university in the country to introduce the 3 Unrestricted Change of Major System, which is being fully implemented starting from the first semester of the 2024 academic year. This system guarantees students the freedom to move to the major of their choice without restrictions on grade level, acquired credits and GPA, or the number of changes.

In the 2024 academic year, 198 students utilized the system to apply for a change of major, marking a 230% increase compared to the previous year. The satisfaction rate also reached 96%, indicating the successful establishment of the autonomous major selection system.

Applications for changing majors can be made through the online integrated information system, followed by consultations with academic advisors and approval from the Office of Educational Innovation for final confirmation. Starting from the first semester of the 2025 academic year, a 'Major and Career Guidance Center' will also be operated to further strengthen the support system for changing majors.

Academic advisors include faculty members, teaching assistants, intermediaries, and industry experts, who provide tailored support for students' career planning and major selection.

Oh Jung-geun, head of the Glocal University Promotion Team, stated, "Gunsan University's Unlimited Change of Major System is already a case of realizing the evolution model of the autonomous major system," and expressed, "We will lead regional university innovation by sharing expertise with other universities."
