군산시가 외국인 주민의 안정적 정착을 지원하기 위해 이민자 사회통합프로그램 2학기를 본격 운영한다.

시는 지난 18일 군산외국인주민지원센터(군산산업단지복합문화센터)에서 2학기 개강식을 열고, 본격적인 교육에 들어갔다. 2학기 과정은 ▲0단계(기초) 2주 과정(5.185.25), ▲1단계(초급1)와 ▲2단계(초급2) 13주 과정(6.18.24)으로 구성되며, 매주 일요일 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 운영된다.

교육 신청은 사회통합정보망(www.socinet.com)에서 가능하며, 1단계는 5월 26일부터, 2단계는 5월 19일부터 6월 13일까지 신청을 받는다.

군산시는 지난 12월 법무부로부터 전북 유일의 ‘이민자 사회통합프로그램 일반운영기관’으로 지정돼 2025년부터 3년간 직접 운영하게 됐다.

시 관계자는 “외국인 주민의 지역사회 적응과 정착을 돕기 위한 체계적 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gunsan City is actively operating the Immigration Social Integration Program 2nd semester to support the stable settlement of foreign residents.

The city held the opening ceremony for the 2nd semester at the Gunsan Foreign Residents Support Center (Gunsan Industrial Complex Cultural Center) on the 18th and officially started the education program. The 2nd semester consists of a 2-week course for Level 0 (basic) from May 18 to 25, and 13-week courses for Level 1 (beginner 1) and Level 2 (beginner 2) from June 18 to 24. The classes will be held every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Education applications can be made through the Social Integration Network (www.socinet.com), with applications for Level 1 accepted from May 26 and for Level 2 from May 19 to June 13.

Gunsan City was designated as the only 'General Operating Institution for Immigration Social Integration Programs in Jeollabuk Province' by the Ministry of Justice in December last year and will directly operate the program for three years starting from 2025.

An official from the city stated, "We will continue to provide systematic support to help foreign residents adapt to and settle in the local community."
