정읍시는 지난 19일 백정기 의사 기념관(영원면)에서 순국 91주기를 기념하는 좌담회를 열고, 독립운동가 백 의사의 업적과 정신을 조명하는 시간을 가졌다.

이번 좌담회는 백정기 의사의 독립정신을 지역사회에서 재조명하고, 향후 선양사업의 방향을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다. 아흐K로컬콘텐츠연구소 백남이 소장이 사회를 맡았으며, 백정기 의사 기념사업회 이홍로 사무국장이 정읍시와의 협력 활동을 공유했다. 얼학회 이도형 회장은 효창공원 3의사(백정기, 윤봉길, 이봉창)의 인지도 조사 결과를 바탕으로 선양사업 활성화 방안을 발표했다.

이학수 정읍시장은 “백정기 의사의 독립정신을 계승하기 위한 실질적인 추진 전략을 세우는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 지속적인 시민 참여를 당부했다.

참석자들은 향후 시민 공감대 확산과 실천 방안 마련을 위한 다양한 의견을 교환했으며, 이번 좌담회는 정읍시 공식 유튜브 채널 ‘정읍SEE’를 통해 공개될 예정이다.

On the 19th, Jeongeup City held a symposium at the Baek Jeong-gi Doctor Memorial Hall in Yeongwon-myeon to commemorate the 91st anniversary of the patriotic martyrdom, shedding light on the achievements and spirit of independence activist Doctor Baek.

The symposium was organized to reemphasize Doctor Baek Jeong-gi's spirit of independence in the local community and to discuss the direction of future revitalization projects. Baek Nam, from the Ahh Local Content Research Institute, assumed the role of the head of the society, while Lee Hong-ro, the office director of the Baek Jeong-gi Doctor Memorial Society, shared collaborative activities with Jeongeup City. Lee Do-hyeong, the chairman of Eolhakhoe, presented activation strategies for future revitalization projects based on a survey of the awareness of the three martyrs at Hyochang Park (Baek Jeong-gi, Yun Bong-gil, Lee Bong-chang).

Jeongeup Mayor Lee Hak-soo expressed hope that the event would serve as an opportunity to establish practical strategies for inheriting Doctor Baek Jeong-gi's spirit of independence, urging continuous citizen participation.

Participants exchanged various opinions to foster future citizen empathy and practical action plans, and the symposium is scheduled to be publicly available through Jeongeup City's official YouTube channel, 'JeongeupSEE.'
