전주공업고등학교 졸업생 김대성 씨가 자동차정비 분야에서 국제기능올림픽 국가대표로 최종 선발됐다.

전주공업고에 따르면 내년 중국 상하이에서 열리는 제48회 국제기능올림픽대회에 출전할 자동차정비 직종 국가대표를 선발하는 1차(4월 26~30일), 2차 평가전(7월 1~5일)이 최근 마무리됐다. 이 평가전에서 김대성 씨는 우수한 실력을 바탕으로 최종 국가대표에 이름을 올렸다.

김 씨는 2024년 2월 전주공고를 졸업한 인재로, 고교 재학 시절부터 자동차정비 기술을 꾸준히 연마해왔다. 특히 2023년 전국기능경기대회 자동차정비 직종에서 2위를 수상하며 기술력을 인정받은 바 있다.

한편, 2024년 전국기능경기대회에서 자동차정비 직종 1위를 차지한 전주공고 재학생 조민균 군도 이번 국가대표 평가전에 출전해 2위에 올랐다. 그는 국가대표 상비군으로 발탁돼 향후 대회 출전을 대비한 집중 훈련에 돌입하게 된다.

이번 선발과 더불어, 김대성 씨는 7월 중순 인천 글로벌숙련기술진흥원에서 열리는 아시아 지역 합동훈련에도 참가할 예정이다. 이 훈련에는 인도네시아와 우즈베키스탄 선수단이 함께 참여해 국제적인 기술 교류와 실전 감각을 높이는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

오홍학 전주공고 교장은 “우리 학교는 자동차 분야에서 우수한 기능 인재를 지속적으로 배출해 왔다”며 “이번 성과는 지역 기술교육의 경쟁력을 다시 한번 입증한 사례로, 앞으로도 미래 기술 인재 양성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

According to Jeonju Industrial High School, the first (April 26-30) and second evaluation rounds (July 1-5) to select the national representative for automotive repair at the 48th International WorldSkills Competition to be held in Shanghai, China next year have recently concluded. Kim Daesung secured his spot as the final national representative based on his outstanding skills during these evaluations.

Kim, who graduated from Jeonju High School in February 2024, has been steadily honing his automotive repair skills since his high school days. In particular, he was recognized for his skills when he won second place in the national vocational skills competition for automotive repair in 2023.

Furthermore, Jeonju High School student Cho Mingyun, who won first place in the automotive repair category at the national vocational skills competition in 2024, also participated in the national representative evaluations and secured second place. He has been selected as a standby member of the national team and will now focus on intensive training for future competitions.

In addition to this selection, Kim Daesung is also scheduled to participate in joint training in the Asian region at the Incheon Global Skill Development Institute in mid-July. This training will involve teams from Indonesia and Uzbekistan, and is expected to enhance international technical exchange and practical skills.

Jeonju High School Principal Oh Honghak stated, "Our school has consistently produced outstanding talent in the automotive field," and added, "This achievement is once again proof of the competitiveness of regional technical education. We will continue to do our best to cultivate future technical talent."
