<이양숙-우리쉴까>

(사)한국공예문화협회가 주최하는 ‘2025 한국 현대공예 원로·정예작가 10인전’이 7월 19일부터 28일까지 익산W미술관에서 열린다.

이번 전시는 한국 현대공예의 흐름을 함께해온 도자, 목칠, 금속, 섬유공예 분야의 원로 및 정예 작가 10인이 참여하여, 전통과 현대, 예술성과 기술성을 아우르는 대표작들을 선보인다.

참여 작가는 ▲도자공예 부문에 박종훈, 김현식, 김문경 ▲섬유공예 부문에 김윤덕, 이양숙 ▲목칠공예 부문에 강형구, 이재영 ▲금속공예 부문에 김두봉, 변중호, 김홍용 작가 등 각 분야를 대표하는 중견·원로 작가들이다.

전시에는 도자에 옻칠을 더해 실용성과 예술성을 결합한 작품부터, 섬유 위에 선과 문양을 그려 염색공예의 시적 미감을 드러낸 작품, 목재와 금속의 조형적 융합, 금속과 블루투스 스피커 부품을 결합해 공예와 테크놀로지의 만남을 제안하는 창작물까지 다양한 스펙트럼의 작업이 공개된다.

이들 작가는 오랜 시간 동안 각자의 분야에서 활약하며 대한민국미술대전, 공예대전, 국제 아트페어 등에서 작품성과 기술력을 인정받아왔다. 이번 전시는 단순한 작품 전시를 넘어, 한국 현대공예의 현재와 미래를 담아낸 살아있는 역사이자 창작의 정수를 보여주는 자리가 될 전망이다.

이광진 한국공예문화협회 이사장은 인사말을 통해 “뜨거운 창작열로 빚어진 이번 작품들을 통해 관람객들에게는 문화 향유의 기쁨을, 공예인들에게는 창작의 동력과 격려를 전하고 싶다”며 “공예를 사랑하는 모든 이들이 전통과 현대가 공존하는 이 전시를 통해 한국 공예의 아름다움과 깊이를 직접 느껴보길 바란다”고 전했다.

Lee Yang-sook - Shall We Rest?

The "2025 Korean Contemporary Craft Elders and Elite Artists Exhibition," hosted by the Korea Craft Culture Association, will be held at the Iksan W Art Museum from July 19 to 28.

This exhibition will feature 10 elder and elite artists in the fields of ceramics, wood, metal, and fiber crafts who have been part of the flow of Korean contemporary crafts. They will showcase representative works that encompass tradition and modernity, artistry, and technicality.

The participating artists include Park Jong-hoon, Kim Hyun-sik, and Kim Moon-kyung in the ceramics category; Kim Yun-deok and Lee Yang-sook in fiber crafts; Kang Hyeong-gu and Lee Jae-young in wood crafts; and Kim Du-bong, Byun Jung-ho, and Kim Hong-yong in metal crafts. These artists represent mid-career and veteran artists in their respective fields.

The exhibition will feature a diverse spectrum of works, ranging from practical and artistic pieces combining ceramics with lacquer, to works revealing the poetic beauty of dyeing crafts by drawing lines and patterns on fibers, to sculptural fusion of wood and metal, and creative works combining metal with Bluetooth speaker components, proposing a meeting of crafts and technology.

These artists have been active in their respective fields for a long time, receiving recognition for their artistic and technical skills at events such as the Korea Art Exhibition, Craft Exhibition, and international art fairs. This exhibition is expected to be a platform that goes beyond a simple display of works, showcasing the living history and essence of creation that encapsulates the present and future of Korean contemporary crafts.

Lee Kwang-jin, the chairman of the Korea Craft Culture Association, expressed in his greeting, "Through the works created with fervent creative energy, I hope to convey the joy of cultural appreciation to the viewers and provide inspiration and encouragement to the craftsmen." He added, "I hope that all those who love crafts will directly experience the beauty and depth of Korean crafts through this exhibition, where tradition and modernity coexist."
