전북교육청이 개인정보보호 의식 제고를 위해 8월 8일을 ‘개인정보 파기의 날’로 지정·운영했다.

이번 행사는 「개인정보 보호법」에 따라 보유 기간이 지난 개인정보나 목적이 달성된 정보를 적극적으로 파기해 유·노출 사고를 예방하고, 개인정보 보호 인식을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다. ‘8월 8일’은 ‘빨리 파기’의 의미를 담아 지정됐다.

교육청은 사전 매뉴얼 안내, 홍보 배너 설치 등으로 전 직원 참여를 유도했으며, 업무 목적이 만료된 개인정보 파일과 보유기간이 지난 시스템 자료, 종이 문서·이동식 저장장치의 불필요한 개인정보를 복구 불가능한 방식으로 폐기했다.

오선화 미래교육과장은 “개인정보 관리의 책임성과 실천력을 높여 불필요한 개인정보의 상시 점검·삭제 문화를 정착시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

This event was organized to actively destroy personal information that has expired its retention period or achieved its purpose in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, in order to prevent leaks and exposure incidents, and to strengthen awareness of personal information protection. 'August 8th' was chosen to symbolize the meaning of 'destroy quickly'.

The Education Office encouraged the participation of all staff through activities such as providing manuals, and installing promotional banners. They disposed of unnecessary personal information such as files with expired business purposes, system data that had exceeded the retention period, paper documents, and portable storage devices in an irrecoverable manner.

Oh Sun-hwa, the head of the Future Education Department, stated, "We will enhance the responsibility and efficiency of personal information management and establish a culture of regular inspection and deletion of unnecessary personal information."
