전북특별자치도의회 한빛원전 대책 특별위원회(위원장 김만기)는 22일 집행부로부터 한빛원전 관련 현안 추진 상황을 보고받기 위한 간담회를 열었다.

간담회에는 김만기 위원장을 비롯해 김성수·김슬지·박정희 위원과 도민안전실 박장석 사회재난과장이 참석했다. 보고에서는 ▲고준위 방사성폐기물 관리 특별법 시행령(안) 입법예고 대응 ▲최근 5년간 원전 사고 현황 ▲방사능 재난 대비 안전관리 강화 ▲비상계획구역 재정지원 요청 ▲한빛 1·2호기 계속운전 등 주요 현안이 다뤄졌다.

김만기 위원장은 “한빛원전은 도민 안전과 직결된 사안인 만큼 철저한 대응이 필요하다”며 “특별위원회도 도민 불안 해소와 안전대책 마련에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 올해 10월 4일 활동 종료 예정이던 특별위원회는 주요 현안 대응을 위해 활동 기간 연장을 준비 중이다.

The Special Committee on Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant Measures of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Council (Chairman Kim Manki) held a meeting on the 22nd to receive a report on the progress of current issues related to the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant from the executive branch.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Kim Manki, as well as members Kim Seongsu, Kim Seulji, Park Junghui, and Park Jangseok, the head of the Social Disaster Management Office. The report covered major issues such as ▲ response to the legislative notice on the High-Level Radioactive Waste Management Special Act Enforcement Decree ▲ recent nuclear power plant accident status over the past 5 years ▲ strengthening of safety management for nuclear disasters ▲ request for financial support for emergency planning zones ▲ continued operation of Units 1 and 2 of the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant.

Chairman Kim Manki stated, "As the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant is directly related to the safety of our residents, thorough responses are necessary," and added, "The special committee will do its best to alleviate residents' concerns and establish safety measures."

Meanwhile, the special committee, which was scheduled to conclude its activities on October 4th this year, is preparing for an extension of its activities to address major issues.
