-2020년부터 5년간 사고 938건 발생…사망 26명

최근 5년간 전주시 음주운전 교통사고 사망자 수가 전국에서 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다.

3일 더불어민주당 한병도 의원(익산을)이 경찰청으로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면, 2020년부터 2024년까지 지난 5년간 전국에서 총 7만 1,279건의 음주운전 교통사고가 발생해 1,004명이 죽고 11만 3,715명이 다친 것으로 드러났다.

전국 229개 기초 지방자치단체 별로는 수원시에서만 지난 5년간 1,705건의 음주운전 교통사고가 발생해 가장 많았고, 청주시(1,590건)와 천안시(1,489건), 서울 강남구(1,480건), 고양시(1,407건), 평택시(1,389건), 화성시(1,370건), 용인시(1,310건) 등이 뒤따랐다.

특히 음주운전 교통사고 사망자가 가장 많이 발생한 지자체는 전주시였다.

전주시는 지난 5년간 938건의 사고가 발생해 26명이 사망하고 1,549명이 다쳤다. 이어서 창원시(25명), 고양시(21명), 서산시(18명), 제주시와 포천시(각각 17명) 순으로 사망자가 많았다.

In the recent 5 years, it has been revealed that Jeonju City has the highest number of fatalities in drunk driving accidents nationwide.

According to the data submitted by Representative Han Byeong-do of the Democratic Party to the National Police Agency on the 3rd, a total of 71,279 drunk driving accidents occurred nationwide from 2020 to 2024, resulting in 1,004 deaths and 113,715 injuries.

Among the 229 local governments nationwide, Suwon City had the highest number of drunk driving accidents over the past 5 years, with 1,705 cases, followed by Cheongju City (1,590 cases), Cheonan City (1,489 cases), Gangnam-gu in Seoul (1,480 cases), Goyang City (1,407 cases), Pyeongtaek City (1,389 cases), Hwaseong City (1,370 cases), and Yongin City (1,310 cases).

Particularly, Jeonju City had the highest number of fatalities in drunk driving accidents.

Over the past 5 years, Jeonju City had 938 accidents, resulting in 26 deaths and 1,549 injuries. Following Jeonju were Changwon City (25 deaths), Goyang City (21 deaths), Seosan City (18 deaths), and Jeju City and Pocheon City (each with 17 deaths) in terms of the highest number of fatalities.
