전북특별자치도지속가능발전협의회와 사단법인 전북생명의숲이 공동 주관한 2025 전주 모악산 생물다양성 탐사대작전 행사가 전주시 모악산 도립공원 일원에서 11일 개최되었다.

올 해로 10회째를 맞고 있는 이 행사는 2015년 ‘건지산의 보물을 찾아라!’를 시작으로 2016년 임실 성수산, 2017년 완주 모악산, 2018년 진안 마이산, 2019년 김제 모악산, 2021년 고창 선운산, 2022년 완주 대둔산, 2023년 진안 마이산, 2024년 완주 모악산에서 진행되었고, 올해는 전주시 모악산 도립공원에서 개최되었다.

이날 행사는 전북특별자치도지속가능발전협의회 곽동희 상임대표, 전주시, 전주시민 및 전북도민, 전문가 등 약 70명이 참가하여 식물, 곤충, 포유류, 양서파충류, 조류, 선태류, 균류(버섯류) 7개 분야에서 총 생물종 408종을 발견함으로써 전주 모악산의 생물다양성과 생태적 가치를 직접 확인하였다.

WALK프로그램에서는 7개 분야별로 나뉘어 전문가와 함께 참가자들이 생물종을 탐사하고 관찰하는 활동을 진행하였고, 이후 탐사한 생물을 목록으로 정리하면서 자세히 알아보는 TALK프로그램을 진행하였다.

생물다양성 탐사대작전은 전문가와 함께 일반인이 참여하여 현재의 지식으로 확인할 수 있는 모든 생물종을 찾아 목록으로 만드는 과학참여활동이다.

전북특별자치도지속가능발전협의회 곽동희 상임대표는 “올해로 10회째를 맞이하는 생물다양성 탐사인만큼 전주, 김제, 완주 모악산의 생물종을 취합해 볼 수 있는 좋은 기회가 되었다”며, “앞으로 기후변화는 더욱 심각해질 것이고 생물종 뿐만아니라 인간에게도 멸종의 위기는 찾아올 것이기 때문에 생물종을 보호하기 위한 활동이 더 많아졌으면 좋겠다”고 말했다.

The 2025 Jeonju Moaksan Biodiversity Expedition, jointly organized by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Sustainable Development Council and the Jeonbuk Forest of Life Foundation, was held on the 11th at the Moaksan Provincial Park in Jeonju.

This event, now in its 10th year, started in 2015 with the theme 'Find the Treasure of Geonji Mountain!' and has been held in various locations such as Imsil Seongsusan in 2016, Wanju Moaksan in 2017, Jinan Maisan in 2018, Kimje Moaksan in 2019, Gochang Sununsan in 2021, Wanju Daedunsan in 2022, Jinan Maisan in 2023, Wanju Moaksan in 2024, and this year at Moaksan Provincial Park in Jeonju.

On this day, about 70 participants including Kwak Dong-hee, the standing representative of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Sustainable Development Council, officials from Jeonju City, Jeonju citizens, Jeonbuk residents, and experts, discovered a total of 408 species of organisms in seven categories including plants, insects, mammals, amphibians and reptiles, birds, fish, and fungi (mushrooms), confirming the biodiversity and ecological value of Moaksan in Jeonju.

In the WALK program, participants, divided into seven categories, conducted activities with experts to explore and observe species, followed by the TALK program where the discovered organisms were listed and studied in detail.

The Biodiversity Expedition is a scientific participatory activity where experts and the general public work together to find and list all species that can be confirmed with current knowledge.

Kwak Dong-hee, the standing representative of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Sustainable Development Council, said, "As we celebrate the 10th year of the Biodiversity Expedition, it was a great opportunity to compile the species of Moaksan in Jeonju, Kimje, and Wanju," adding, "As climate change worsens, and not only species but also humans face the threat of extinction, I hope there will be more efforts to protect species."
