전북이 가을을 맞아 국제 서예축제와 국내 최초 문화도시 박람회를 동시에 열며 문화예술의 중심지로 주목받고 있다.

오는 26일부터 한 달간 한국소리문화의전당과 전북예술회관 등지에서는 제15회 세계서예전북비엔날레가 ‘고요 속의 울림(靜中動)’을 주제로 막을 올린다. 1997년 출범 이후 45개국 3,400여 명의 작가가 참여해온 이 행사는 ‘자연·사람·한글 먹빛전’, ‘K-서예전’, ‘디지털영상서예전’ 등 17개 프로그램으로 구성됐다. 특히 청년작가들의 융합작품과 디지털 신작은 전통 서예의 뿌리를 지키면서도 현대화와 세계화를 향한 가능성을 보여줄 전망이다.

또 같은 날부터 28일까지 완주 고산자연휴양림에서는 전국 최초의 전북권 문화도시 박람회가 열린다. 전주·익산·완주·고창 등 4개 법정 문화도시가 참여해 홍보관, 포럼, 체험, 공연 등을 선보인다. 개막식에는 전주 하계올림픽 홍보영상과 대형 퍼즐 퍼포먼스가 마련돼 도민과 관광객이 함께 즐길 수 있다. 완주는 ‘공동체 문화도시’, 익산은 ‘역사문화도시’, 고창은 ‘치유문화도시’, 전주는 ‘미래문화도시’라는 브랜드로 각자의 성과와 정체성을 공유한다.

전북 문화도시 상생협력 네트워크(JCCP)가 주도한 이번 행사는 지역 문화 격차 해소와 콘텐츠 경쟁력 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 서예의 세계화와 문화도시 연대가 동시에 펼쳐지는 이번 가을, 전북이 만들어낼 문화적 울림에 귀가 쏠린다.

Jeonbuk is attracting attention as a center of cultural arts as it simultaneously hosts the International Calligraphy Festival and the first domestic cultural city expo in South Korea this autumn.

Starting from the 26th of this month, for a month, the 15th World Calligraphy Jeonbuk Biennale will be held at venues such as the Korea Sound Culture Center and Jeonbuk Art Gallery under the theme 'Resonance in Silence'. Since its establishment in 1997, this event, which has seen the participation of over 3,400 artists from 45 countries, is composed of 17 programs including 'Nature, People, Hangul Light Exhibition', 'K-Calligraphy Exhibition', and 'Digital Video Calligraphy Exhibition'. Particularly, the fusion works of young artists and new digital works are expected to demonstrate the potential for modernization and globalization while preserving the roots of traditional calligraphy.

On the same day until the 28th, the first Jeonbuk Cultural City Expo in the Jeonbuk region will take place at the Wansan Nature Resort in Wanju. Four legal cultural cities including Jeonju, Iksan, Wanju, and Gochang will participate in promoting halls, forums, experiences, and performances. The opening ceremony will feature a promotional video for the Jeonju Summer Olympics and a large-scale puzzle performance for residents and tourists to enjoy together. Wanju shares its achievements and identity under the brand of 'Community Cultural City', Iksan as 'Historical Cultural City', Gochang as 'Healing Cultural City', and Jeonju as 'Future Cultural City'.

This event, led by the Jeonbuk Cultural City Cooperation Network (JCCP), is expected to contribute to bridging the regional cultural gap and enhancing content competitiveness. This autumn, as the globalization of calligraphy and the solidarity of cultural cities unfold simultaneously, attention is drawn to the cultural resonance that Jeonbuk will create.
