(재)전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)과 한국과학기술연구원 전북 복합소재기술연구소(원장 오상록, 전북분원장 최원국)은 24일 팔복예술공장 회의실에서 탄소소재와 인공지능(AI)을 활용한 문화예술 산업 활성화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

이번 협약은 정부가 추진 중인 국정과제 ‘첨단 과학기술 기반의 미래 신산업 육성’과 ‘지역 기반 문화·관광·콘텐츠 산업 혁신’과 연계되어, 과학기술과 문화예술의 융합을 통해 지역 균형발전과 국가 경쟁력 강화에 기여한다는 점에서 큰 의미를 가진다.

협약에 따라 양 기관은 ▲탄소소재·AI 등 예술품 제작을 위한 과학기술 협업 및 자문 ▲신기술 관련 세미나·포럼 공동 개최 ▲탄소소재 예술 작가 지원을 위한 기술 협력 ▲문화기술 관련 국가연구개발사업 공동 추진 ▲기타 문화기술 분야 교류·협력 증진 프로그램 운영 등을 함께 추진하기로 했다.

최락기 전주문화재단 대표이사는 “이번 협약은 지역 예술가들이 과학기술을 활용한 창의적 작업을 시도할 수 있는 기반을 마련했다”며, “국정과제와 발맞추어 전주가 문화와 기술이 융합되는 선도 도시로 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 말했다.

Jeonju Cultural Foundation (Representative Director Choi Rak-gi) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) Jeonbuk Composite Material Technology Research Institute (Director Oh Sang-rok, Jeonbuk Branch Director Choi Won-guk) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the activation of the cultural arts industry using carbon materials and artificial intelligence (AI) at the Palbok Arts Factory meeting room on the 24th.

This agreement is significant as it is linked to the government's national tasks of promoting 'the nurturing of future new industries based on advanced science and technology' and 'innovation in regional-based culture, tourism, and content industries,' contributing to regional balanced development and enhancing national competitiveness through the convergence of science and technology with cultural arts.

Under the agreement, the two institutions agreed to collaborate on scientific and technological cooperation and consultation for the production of art pieces using carbon materials and AI, jointly organize seminars and forums related to new technologies, cooperate on technology support for carbon material artists, jointly pursue national research and development projects related to cultural technology, and operate programs to enhance exchanges and cooperation in other cultural technology fields.

Choi Rak-gi, the representative director of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, stated, "This agreement has provided a foundation for local artists to attempt creative work utilizing science and technology," adding, "In line with the national tasks, this will be an opportunity for Jeonju to leap as a leading city where culture and technology are integrated."
