남원시(시장 최경식)는 국토교통부가 주관한 2025년 K-Geo 페스타에서 국가공간정보 발전 유공으로 국토교통부 장관상을 수상했다고 26일 밝혔다.

시는 기초행정구역 공간정보 구축사업, 고정밀 수치지형도 제작, 시각장애인 손끝 문화탐방 디지털 지도 구축 등 다양한 공모사업을 성실히 수행해 공간정보 활용 가치를 높인 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

또한 최근 국토지리정보원이 주관한 2026년 고정밀 전자지도 챌린지 공모사업에도 최종 선정돼 국비 10억 원을 확보하는 성과를 거두며, 첨단 공간정보 기반 정책으로 시민 삶의 질 향상에 기여할 계획이다.

남원시 관계자는 “이번 장관상은 남원시 공간정보 정책의 성과를 인정받은 결과”라며 “앞으로도 공간정보를 적극 활용해 지역 경쟁력 강화와 시민 행복 실현에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Namwon City (Mayor Choi Gyeong-sik) announced on the 26th that they received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award for their contribution to the development of national spatial information at the 2025 K-Geo Festa organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The city received high evaluations for enhancing the value of spatial information utilization by diligently carrying out various public projects such as the construction of basic administrative area spatial information, production of high-precision digital terrain maps, and the creation of digital maps for cultural exploration by visually impaired individuals.

Furthermore, they were recently selected for the 2026 High-Precision Electronic Map Challenge public project organized by the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, securing 1 billion won in national funds. They plan to contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens by implementing advanced spatial information-based policies.

A Namwon City official stated, "This award recognizes the achievements of Namwon City's spatial information policy," adding, "We will continue to make every effort to enhance regional competitiveness and realize citizen happiness by actively utilizing spatial information."
