전주시가 완주·전주 통합을 통해 누구나 다양한 기회와 행복을 누리고, 누구나 뿌리내리며 살고 싶은 도시를 만들어서 한강의 기적을 뛰어넘는 만경강의 기적을 이뤄내겠다는 강한 의지를 내비쳤다.

우범기 전주시장은 30일 시청 4층 회의실에서 ‘완주-전주 통합시 비전 발표 기자회견’을 열고 “지방 소멸의 절박한 위기 앞에서 완전(完全)한 도시, 완전(完全)한 미래로 나아가기 위한 완주·전주 통합의 염원이 날로 뜨겁고 깊어지고 있다”라며 “완주와 전주가 하나된 힘으로 함께 미래를 그리고 함께 미래로 나아간다면, 한강의 기적을 뛰어넘는 만경강의 기적을 만들 수 있을 것”이라고 밝혔다.

이번 완주-전주 통합시 비전은 통합 이후 완주 지역을 중심으로 통합시 미래 발전 방향을 담은 것으로, 오는 2040년까지 통합시를 △100만 광역도시 △AI산업 기반 경제산업 중심도시 △가장 살기 좋은 직주락(職住樂) 정주도시로 만드는 것이 핵심이다.

이를 위해 시는 오는 2040년까지 장기적인 시각을 가지고 약 8.8조 원을 투자해 △통합시 5대 메가 프로젝트 △정주 혁신 7개 프로젝트 △K-문화관광벨트 구축 △대한민국 최고의 첨단산업 허브 도약의 4대 전략, 23개 사업을 추진할 계획이다.

Jeonju City expressed a strong determination to create a city where everyone can enjoy various opportunities and happiness through the integration of Wanju and Jeonju, and to make a city where everyone wants to live and put down roots, surpassing the miracle of the Han River with the miracle of the Mangyeong River.

Mayor Woo Beom-gi held a press conference on the vision of the Wanju-Jeonju integration at the 4th floor conference room of the city hall on the 30th, stating, "The desire for the integration of Wanju and Jeonju to move towards a complete city, a complete future in the face of the urgent crisis of local extinction is growing hotter and deeper day by day," and "If Wanju and Jeonju move forward together with the power of unity, drawing the future together, we can create the miracle of the Mangyeong River surpassing the miracle of the Han River."

The vision for the Wanju-Jeonju integration focuses on the future development direction of the integrated city centering on the Wanju region after integration. By 2040, the goal is to make the integrated city a △ 1 million metropolitan city △ an AI industry-based economic hub city △ a city with the best living environment, a place where work and residence are enjoyable.

To achieve this, the city plans to invest approximately 8.8 trillion won by 2040, carrying out △ 5 mega projects for the integrated city △ 7 projects for residential innovation △ establishing a K-Culture and Tourism Belt △ and four major strategies for leaping into the best advanced industrial hub in South Korea, totaling 23 projects with a long-term vision.
