부산에서 열린 제106회 전국체육대회 사전경기(9월 29일~10월 5일)에서 성심여자고등학교(교장 양승욱) 배드민턴부가 여자 고등부 단체전 금메달을 차지해 2년 연속 우승을 달성했다. 결승전에서는 서울 대표 창덕여고를 상대로 3-2 접전 끝에 승리했다.
성심여고는 3학년 천예인·문인서·이가현·이야연·한승연, 2학년 최예다·박보민으로 선수단을 꾸려 예선부터 준결승까지 주도하며 결승까지 안정적으로 이끌었다. 특히 천예인·문인서 선수는 단체전에 이어 개인복식에서도 금메달을 따내 2관왕에 올랐다.
전북선발 남자 고등부 대표팀도 단체전 결승에 올랐으며 은메달을 획득했다.
정소영 성심여고 지도자는 “2년 연속 우승과 2관왕 선수 배출이라는 성과는 선수 개인의 노력뿐만 아니라 성심여고 체육 시스템의 힘”이라며 “앞으로도 인성과 실력을 갖춘 인재를 꾸준히 길러내겠다”고 말했다. 강양원 전북특별자치도교육청 문예체건강과장은 “여자 고등부 2연패와 2관왕, 남자 고등부 단체전 은메달까지 성과를 올린 이번 대회는 학생들의 끊임없는 노력과 지도자, 학교의 헌신이 만들어낸 결실”이라며 “전북교육청은 학생 선수들이 꿈을 이룰 수 있도록 교육적·제도적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
At the preliminary matches of the 106th National Sports Festival held in Busan (September 29 to October 5), the badminton team of Seongsim Girls' High School (Principal Yang Seung-wook) achieved consecutive victories by winning the gold medal in the girls' high school team event. In the final match, they defeated Changdeok Girls' High School, the representative team from Seoul, in a close 3-2 match.
Seongsim Girls' High School, led by seniors Cheon Ye-in, Moon In-seo, Lee Ga-hyun, Lee Ya-yeon, Han Seung-yeon, and juniors Choi Yo-da and Park Bo-min, dominated from the qualifiers to the semifinals, leading them steadily to the final. In particular, Cheon Ye-in and Moon In-seo not only won the gold medal in the team event but also claimed the gold in the doubles event, becoming double champions.
The male high school team from Jeonbuk also reached the final of the team event and won the silver medal.
Jung So-young, the coach of Seongsim Girls' High School, said, "The consecutive victories for two years and the double champions are not only the result of the players' individual efforts but also the strength of Seongsim Girls' High School's sports system." She added, "We will continue to cultivate talented individuals with both character and skills consistently." Kang Yang-won, the head of the Department of Culture, Arts, and Health at the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, stated, "The achievements of the girls' high school team's consecutive victories, double champions, and the male high school team's silver medal in the team event in this tournament are the fruits of students' relentless efforts and the dedication of coaches and schools." He further mentioned, "The Jeonbuk Office of Education will spare no effort in providing educational and institutional support to help student athletes achieve their dreams."
