전북특별자치도교육청이 한국어 기반 국제교류 활성화 사업의 일환으로 10월 12~20일 미국 워싱턴주 타코마·벨뷰와 오리건주 포틀랜드·비버튼에서 ‘K-학교도서 확산을 위한 북큐레이션’을 운영한다.

이번 프로그램은 시애틀·태국·도쿄 한국교육원과 연계해 책을 통해 한국어의 가치와 한국 독서문화를 알리는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 전북교육청이 선정한 추천도서 100선을 주제별로 선별·소개해 단순한 독서를 넘어 언어 학습과 한국문화 이해를 확장하도록 구성했다.

주요 일정은 △외국 학생 대상 독서·한글 교육 △한국어 교원 및 한글학교 교사 연수 △부모·동포 사회 대상 독서교육 △대학·지역 교육구 방문 등이다. 교육청은 이를 통해 한국어교육 활성화, 청소년 독서문화 확산, 지속 가능한 국제교류망 구축을 기대하며 각국 한국교육원과 정기 교류 프로그램을 확대할 계획이다.

유정기 교육감 권한대행은 “한국어교육 기반 북큐레이션은 지식 나눔을 넘어 문화와 마음을 잇는 다리”라며 “해외 청소년에게는 한국어 학습 동기를, 전북 학생에게는 세계와 함께 배우고 성장할 기회를 지속적으로 마련하겠다”고 밝혔다.

As part of the project to promote international exchanges based on the Korean language, the Jeollabuk-do Office of Education will be conducting a program titled 'Book Curation for the Spread of K-School Books' in Tacoma and Bellevue, Washington, and Portland and Beaverton, Oregon from October 12 to 20.

This program, in collaboration with the Korean Education Centers in Seattle, Thailand, and Tokyo, focuses on promoting the value of the Korean language and Korean reading culture through books. The Jeollabuk-do Office of Education has selected and introduced 100 recommended books by theme to go beyond simple reading and expand language learning and understanding of Korean culture.

The main schedule includes reading and Hangul education for foreign students, training for Korean teachers and instructors of Korean language schools, reading education for parents and the Korean community, and visits to universities and local education offices. The Office of Education expects to activate Korean language education, spread youth reading culture, and establish a sustainable international exchange network, planning to expand regular exchange programs with Korean Education Centers in various countries.

Acting Superintendent Yoo Jung-ki stated, "The book curation based on Korean language education is a bridge that connects culture and hearts beyond sharing knowledge," adding, "We will continue to provide overseas youth with motivation for learning Korean and opportunities for Jeollabuk students to learn and grow together with the world."
