김춘선 작가의 아홉 번째 개인전 《Recycling art: 들키고 싶은 비밀》이 오는 16일부터 22일까지 전주 우진문화공간 1층 갤러리에서 열린다.

이번 전시는 종이박스, 스티로폼, 복사지, 신문지 등 일상에서 버려지는 재료들을 예술로 되살려온 김춘선 작가의 작업 세계를 집약적으로 보여준다. 작가는 오랫동안 종이를 주요 매체로 삼아 작품을 이어왔으며, 이번 전시에서도 대부분의 작품이 재활용 소재로 구성됐다. 특히 스티로폼을 활용한 신작이 새롭게 선보일 예정이다.

김 작가는 “캔버스 같은 전통적 재료는 부담이 커서 주변에서 쉽게 구할 수 있는 종이나 박스를 사용하게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 ‘잡동사니 시리즈’를 통해 재료의 경계를 넘는 작업을 이어가고 싶다”고 전했다.

그의 대표 연작인 ‘잡동사니 시리즈’는 버려진 물건에서 새로운 생명을 불어넣는 과정을 통해 예술과 일상의 경계를 허물어왔다. 한정된 공간과 여건 속에서 시작된 이 시도는 이제 김춘선 작가의 창작 정체성을 상징하는 작업 방식으로 자리 잡았다.

Kim Chun-sun's ninth solo exhibition, "Recycling art: Secrets I Want to Hide," will be held at the gallery on the first floor of Wujin Cultural Space in Jeonju from the 16th to the 22nd.

This exhibition succinctly showcases Kim Chun-sun's artistic world, where materials such as paper boxes, Styrofoam, photocopies, newspapers, and other discarded everyday items are revitalized into art. The artist has long used paper as a primary medium for his works, and the majority of the pieces in this exhibition are also composed of recycled materials. In particular, new works utilizing Styrofoam will be introduced.

Kim stated, "Traditional materials like canvas were burdensome, so I started using paper and boxes that are easily accessible in the surroundings," adding, "I want to continue breaking the boundaries of materials through the 'Japdongsani Series' in the future."

His representative series, 'Japdongsani Series,' has broken down the boundaries between art and daily life by breathing new life into discarded items. This endeavor, which began in limited space and conditions, has now become a symbolic working method representing Kim Chun-sun's creative identity.
