전북교육청이 하반기 찾아가는 인성교육 ‘마음별 프로젝트’를 가동해 12월까지 도내 중학교 1학년을 대상으로 뇌과학 기반 4차시 프로그램을 운영한다.

수업은 △멈춤(집중·알아차림) △생각(관찰·객관화) △행동(의식적 선택) △검토(성찰·성장) 순으로, 전두엽·변연계 활동을 활용한 명상형 인성교육을 통해 감정조절 능력을 높이는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

학업 스트레스 관리, 대인 갈등 해결, 자기관리 습관 형성, 디지털 기기 사용 균형 등 학생들의 일상 문제 해결 역량 강화를 목표로 한다. 동시에 자기조절력, 자기정체성·지속성(자기관리 역량), 존중·배려(의사소통 역량) 등 전북 인성교육 핵심덕목 함양을 기대하고 있다.

교육청은 전문기관과 공동연구·협력을 통해 마음건강과 자존감 회복에 효과적인 인성교육 프로그램을 지속 개발·보급할 계획이다. 정미정 민주시민교육과장은 “학생들이 감정을 인식·조절하고 사실에 기반한 대화 능력을 기를 수 있도록 인성교육 정책을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education is launching the "Mind-based Project," a character education program that will be implemented in the second half of the year targeting first-year middle school students in the province until December.

The program consists of four sessions based on neuroscience: △Pause (concentration and awareness) △Think (observation and objectification) △Act (conscious choice) △Reflect (introspection and growth), focusing on enhancing emotional regulation skills through meditation-based character education utilizing activities related to the frontal lobe and limbic system.

The goal is to strengthen students' abilities to manage academic stress, resolve interpersonal conflicts, form self-management habits, and balance the use of digital devices in solving daily life issues. At the same time, the program aims to cultivate key virtues of character education in Jeonbuk such as self-control, self-identity and persistence (self-management capacity), respect and consideration (communication skills).

The Provincial Office of Education plans to continue developing and disseminating effective character education programs for mental health and self-esteem recovery through joint research and collaboration with specialized institutions. Jung Mi-jeong, the head of the Democratic Citizen Education Department, stated, "We will continue the character education policy to help students recognize and regulate emotions and develop conversational skills based on facts."
