The Jeonbuk Provincial Government National Music Institute (Director Yoo Young-dae) has completed a full-scale renovation for the first time since its opening in 1986, and is opening the newly born 'Gwon Sam-deuk Hall' with the first commemorative performance.
The upcoming two-day performance on the 21st and 22nd is a large-scale planned stage under the theme 'New Beginning, Five Tones of Voice,' which intertwines the essence of our traditional Pansori, the five basic types, performed by five top-notch singers.
This performance is designed in a format of 'Deoneumjeon (Deoneum: a new singing technique added by the singer)' where each of the five core Pansori types (Chunhyangga, Simcheongga, Jeokbyeokga, Heungboga, Sugungga) is presented by different renowned singers.
The stage on the 21st will be adorned with Mo Bogyeong's rendition of Chunhyangga's farewell song, and Song Jaeyoung's Simcheongga's scene with Sim Bongsa bathing, representing the elegance of tradition and the meaning of accompanying the deceased. The performance will be led by Seoul City's Intangible Cultural Heritage, Go Jeong-hoon.
On the second day, Yoon Jin-cheol will perform Jeokbyeokga, Kim Se-mi will perform Heungboga, and Wang Ki-seok will perform Sugungga, followed by Jo Yong-an's drum ensemble adding depth to the sound.
The newly opened Gwon Sam-deuk Hall, after 39 years since its completion in 1985, has undergone a complete remodeling, transforming into a traditional and modern sense coexisting national music performance venue. The opening performance will feature an opening video showcasing the construction process and vision of the Gwon Sam-deuk Hall, along with a congratulatory ensemble performance by the National Music Institute Orchestra.
The overall production of the performance is led by Director Yoo Young-dae of the National Music Institute, with overall planning and direction by Kim Tae-kyung, music direction by Lee Yong-tak, the artistic director of the orchestra, and the event will be hosted by Go Seung-jo of the Changgeukdan.
