지난해 승강 플레이오프까지 내려앉으며 구단 역사상 가장 큰 위기를 겪었던 전북은 거스 포옛 감독의 부임 첫해 만에 최다 우승 기록을 다시 쓰며 명가의 부활을 알렸다.

전북은 6일 서울월드컵경기장에서 열린 2025 하나은행 코리아컵 결승전에서 광주FC를 연장 접전 끝에 2-1로 꺾었다. 연장 후반 이승우가 페널티박스 왼쪽에서 결승골을 터뜨리며 팀에 여섯 번째 코리아컵 우승을 안겼다. 이로써 전북은 포항과 함께 대회 최다 우승 공동 1위에 올랐다.

하지만 타노스 수석코치의 사임 발표와 맞물려 포옛 감독과의 동행도 어려울 것으로 보인다.
