전주시는 1990년부터 예술상 시상을 이어오고 있으며, 지난해까지 10개 분야에서 총 227명의 수상자를 배출했다.
우범기 전주시장은 “지역 예술인들의 창작 활동을 격려하고 전주 문화예술의 가치를 널리 알리는 뜻깊은 상”이라며 “예술인들의 자긍심을 높이고 전주가 문화예술도시로 도약하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
Jeonju City held the '36th Jeonju City Arts Awards Ceremony' at the Jeonju Cultural Center Jakdang on the 24th to honor the contributions of artists who have contributed to the development of local culture and arts.
The Jeonju City Arts Award is a prestigious cultural arts award representing Jeonju City. Each year, the city selects and awards artists who have achieved outstanding artistic accomplishments in various fields and contributed to the promotion of local culture and arts. This year's winners were finalized after the judging by the selection committee held on the 26th of last month, with 8 individuals selected across 8 categories.
The winners include Yeon-hee Lee (Vice President of Seokjeong Literary Society) for literature, Soo-young Yeon (Representative of Bach Chamber Players) for music, Hyung-tae Kim (Director of Jeonju Branch of the National Association of Ethnic Artists) for traditional Korean music, Hyun-hee Park (Artistic Director of Park Hyunhee Movement) for dance, Cheol-gyu Lee (Visiting Professor at Yewon University) for fine arts, Sung-min Park (Representative of Photography Specialist Gallery Bom) for photography, Sung-wook Choi (Representative of Demisem Theater Company) for theater, and Kwang-don Yuk (Representative of Chaedam Architects) for architecture.
Jeonju City has been presenting the Arts Awards since 1990, and until last year, a total of 227 winners have been honored in 10 different fields.
Mayor Woo Bum-gi stated, "This meaningful award encourages the creative activities of local artists and promotes the value of Jeonju's culture and arts. I hope it will raise the pride of artists and serve as an opportunity for Jeonju to leap forward as a cultural arts city."
