전주 서학동사진미술관이 12월 22일부터 12월 31일까지 이일순 작가 개인전 《우연의 숲–childhood》를 연다. 전시는 작가가 어린 시절의 기억 속에 남아 있는 생각과 감정, 에피소드들을 회화로 풀어낸 작품들로 구성됐다. 바쁜 일상 속에서도 마음에 남아 있는 꿈과 추억이 삶을 지속하게 하는 힘이 될 수 있다는 메시지를 전한다.

이번 전시의 중심인 ‘우연의 숲’ 연작은 작가가 치유의 행위로 시작한 산책에서 출발했다. 산책 중 마주친 사물과 상황에서 떠오른 생각을 이미지로 재현해 ‘가상의 숲’에 배치하고, 걷기와 그리기에서 비롯되는 치유의 에너지를 화면에 담아냈다. 《우연의 숲–childhood》는 이러한 작업의 연장선에서 어린 시절의 호기심과 기억을 주제로 삼아, 작가로서의 출발점과 앞으로의 방향을 성찰하는 의미를 더했다.

작가는 과거를 되짚는 과정에서 어린 시절 살았던 동네를 직접 찾아가고, 수집했던 물건을 꺼내거나 자료를 검색하며 의미 있었던 장소·사물·사건을 상징적으로 표현해 왔다. 어린 시절의 경험이 현재의 창작에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐구하는 작업이다. 이일순 작가는 “사람들은 누구나 어린 시절의 꿈을 품고 성장하며 현실에 적응해 나간다. 바쁘고 고된 일상 속에서도 마음에 남아 있는 꿈이나 추억이 삶의 위안이 되곤 한다”고 밝혔다.

전시 기간 관람객 참여형 부대행사도 진행된다. 12월 27일(토)에는 ‘작가와의 대화’가 열려 어린 시절의 낭만과 기억을 주제로 관람객들과 자유롭게 이야기를 나누었다. 또한 전시 기간 내 상시 프로그램으로 작가 작품 이미지를 활용한 컬러링 체험을 운영해, 관람객이 각자의 감정과 메시지를 그림으로 공유할 수 있도록 했다.

전시는 전북특별자치도 전주시 완산구 서학로 16-17 서학동사진미술관에서 열린다. 관람 시간은 오전 10시 30분부터 오후 6시까지다. 미술관은 매주 월요일 정기 휴관이다.

The Seohakdong Art Museum in Jeonju will open the solo exhibition "Forest of Coincidence - Childhood" by artist Lee Il-soon from December 22 to December 31. The exhibition consists of works in which the artist expresses thoughts, emotions, and episodes that remain in his memories from childhood through paintings. It conveys a message that dreams and memories that linger in the mind can be a sustaining force in life, even amidst busy daily routines.

The central focus of this exhibition, the series "Forest of Coincidence," began with the artist's healing walks. During these walks, the artist reproduced thoughts that arose from encountering objects and situations as images in a "virtual forest," capturing the healing energy derived from walking and drawing on the canvas. "Forest of Coincidence - Childhood" further adds meaning by exploring the artist's childhood curiosity and memories, reflecting on the starting point as an artist and the direction ahead.

In the process of revisiting the past, the artist directly visited the neighborhood where he spent his childhood, retrieved collected items, and searched for materials to symbolically represent meaningful places, objects, and events. This work explores how childhood experiences influence current creative endeavors. Lee Il-soon stated, "Everyone harbors dreams from childhood and grows while adapting to reality. Even in busy and challenging daily life, dreams and memories that linger in the mind often provide solace."

During the exhibition period, there will be interactive events for visitors. On December 27 (Saturday), a "Conversation with the Artist" will be held, allowing visitors to freely discuss romanticism and memories from childhood with the artist. Additionally, a coloring experience using the artist's work images will be available as a regular program during the exhibition, enabling visitors to share their emotions and messages through drawings.

The exhibition will take place at the Seohakdong Art Museum, located at 16-17 Seohak-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. The viewing hours are from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The museum is closed every Monday.
