전주교육대학교(총장 박병춘)는 11월 19일부터 12월 19일까지 약 한 달간 2025년 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업의 일환으로 ‘서학동 예술마을 문화해설사 양성 프로그램’을 운영했다.

이번 프로그램은 서학동 예술마을의 역사와 문화적 가치를 이해하고, 전주교대 재학생의 문화해설 역량을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다. 참여 학생들은 예술인이 직접 운영하는 공방에서 작품 제작을 체험하고, 마을 탐방과 문화해설가 특강·실습을 병행하며 현장에서 활용 가능한 해설 능력을 키웠다.

프로그램 참가 학생은 “방문객에게 단순 관광 이상의 의미를 전달하는 문화해설사의 역할을 체감했다”며 “배운 내용을 바탕으로 지역 문화 확산에 기여하고 싶다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

박병춘 총장은 “학생들이 전통과 예술이 깃든 마을의 가치를 직접 배우고 체험하며 교육적 성장과 공동체 의식을 함께 키우는 시간이 됐길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 대학과 지역사회가 함께 성장하는 환경을 지속적으로 조성하겠다”고 말했다.

Jeonju National University of Education (President Park Byeongchun) operated the 'Seohak-dong Art Village Cultural Interpreter Training Program' as part of the 2025 Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) project for about a month from November 19 to December 19.

This program was designed to help students understand the history and cultural value of Seohak-dong Art Village and enhance the cultural interpretation skills of students at Jeonju National University of Education. Participating students had the opportunity to experience art production in workshops run by artists, engage in village exploration, and attend special lectures and practical training by cultural interpreters to enhance their interpretation skills that can be applied in the field.

The participating students expressed their impressions, saying, "We felt the role of cultural interpreters in conveying meanings beyond simple tourism to visitors," and "Based on what we learned, we want to contribute to the spread of local culture."

President Park Byeongchun said, "I hope this was a time for students to directly learn and experience the value of a village steeped in tradition and art, fostering educational growth and community consciousness together," and added, "I will continue to create an environment where universities and local communities can grow together."
