전북교육청이 운영한 ‘수학 마스터즈클럽’이 학생들의 수학 학력 신장과 학습 태도 개선에 성과를 거둔 것으로 나타났다.

전북교육청은 29일 수학 마스터즈클럽 참여 학생들의 성적을 분석한 결과, 내신 성적 향상 비율 52%, 모의고사 성적 향상 비율 54%로 확인됐다고 밝혔다. 성적 유지 학생까지 포함하면 전체 80% 이상이 안정적인 학업 성취를 보였다.

수학 마스터즈클럽은 학력신장 지원사업의 하나로, 수학 교사를 중심으로 팀당 5명 내외 학생이 참여해 수능형 문제 해결 능력을 기르는 맞춤형 프로그램이다. 올해는 도내 고등학생 30개 팀 150여 명이 참여했다.

프로그램은 실전 모의고사 및 심화 문항을 활용한 문제 해결, 풀이 설명과 토론, 오답 분석, 성찰 활동 등 학생 참여형 협력 학습으로 운영됐다. 이를 통해 학생들은 단순 풀이를 넘어 사고 과정과 해결 전략을 공유하는 학습 경험을 쌓았다고 교육청은 설명했다.

사례로 한 고교 학생은 참여 후 멘토링과 토론을 통해 학습 인식이 변화하며 모의고사 성적이 4등급에서 1등급으로 향상됐다고 전했다. 참여 소감에서도 자신감, 의사소통, 학습 동기, 학습 습관 등 긍정적 변화가 다수 확인됐다.

문형심 창의인재교육과장은 “협력적 탐구 기반의 학생 주도 학습 문화를 확산시키는 데 기여하고 있다”며 “우수 사례를 공유하고 중·장기 학력 신장 정책과 연계해 활성화하겠다”고 말했다

According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education, an analysis of the academic performance of students participating in the Math Masters Club on the 29th revealed that the improvement rate in internal grades was 52% and in mock exam scores was 54%. When including students who maintained their grades, over 80% of the total students demonstrated stable academic achievement.

The Math Masters Club is one of the academic improvement support programs where around 5 students per team, led by a math teacher, participate in a tailored program to enhance their problem-solving skills for the college entrance exam. This year, around 150 students from 30 high school teams in the province participated.

The program operated through student-participatory cooperative learning activities such as solving practical mock exams and advanced problems, explanation and discussion of solutions, analysis of incorrect answers, and reflective activities. Through this, students gained learning experiences by sharing thought processes and problem-solving strategies, beyond simple solutions, as explained by the education office.

As an example, one high school student's perception of learning changed through mentoring and discussions after participating, leading to an improvement in mock exam scores from grade 4 to grade 1. Positive changes in confidence, communication, learning motivation, and study habits were confirmed in many students' feedback.

Moon Hyeong-sim, the head of the Creative Talent Education Department, stated, "It contributes to spreading a cooperative, inquiry-based, student-led learning culture" and added, "We will share outstanding cases and activate them in connection with medium- to long-term academic improvement policies."
