전북현대모터스FC가 대한민국 수비의 차세대 핵심으로 꼽히는 센터백 변준수(24)를 영입하며 수비 라인 보강에 나섰다.

전북현대는 15일 광주FC에서 활약하며 국가대표팀에 발탁된 변준수의 영입을 공식 발표했다. 이번 영입은 수비진 세대교체를 염두에 둔 장기적 전략의 일환으로 평가된다.

변준수는 190cm의 신장을 활용한 제공권과 안정적인 후방 빌드업 능력을 갖춘 수비수로, K리그 통산 71경기 5득점 3도움을 기록했다. 2025시즌에는 리그 33경기에 출전하며 꾸준한 활약을 펼쳤다.

또한 2024 AFC U23 아시안컵과 2025 EAFF E-1 챔피언십을 통해 국제무대와 A대표팀 경험을 쌓았다.

변준수는 선수 등록 후 오는 19일 국군체육부대에 입대할 예정이며, 전북현대는 군 복무 이후 전력의 핵심으로 성장할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

변준수는 “전북현대의 일원이 된 것을 영광으로 생각한다”며 “전역 후 전주성에서 더 성숙한 모습으로 보답하겠다”고 말했다.

On the 15th, Jeonbuk Hyundai officially announced the signing of Byun Jun-soo, who has been active at Gwangju FC and has been selected for the national team. This acquisition is evaluated as part of a long-term strategy aimed at the generational change in the defense line.

Byun Jun-soo is a defender who utilizes his height of 190cm to his advantage and possesses stable abilities in backline build-up, having recorded 5 goals and 3 assists in a total of 71 K League matches. In the 2025 season, he appeared in 33 league matches, demonstrating consistent performance.

Furthermore, Byun Jun-soo has gained international experience through the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup and the 2025 EAFF E-1 Championship with the national team.

Byun Jun-soo is scheduled to enlist in the military sports unit on the 19th after his player registration, and Jeonbuk Hyundai expects him to grow as a core player of the team after completing his military service.
