<26th Year First Half Gunsan Miryong Small Library>

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Art Museum (Director Lee Gi-jeon) is bringing the museum's collection closer to the daily lives of local residents as autumn deepens.

From the 20th to December 4th, the provincial art museum will operate the "Art on a Page" program at the Kimje Gilbo Small Library, Suncheon Pungsan Small Library, and Suncheon Yudung Small Library. This project aims to allow residents to meet and appreciate the actual museum collection in libraries that they use in their daily lives, without having to visit the art museum directly, creating a culture and art program closely integrated with daily life.

The theme of this project is 'Everyone's Pantry, Coming to Our Neighborhood.' It aims to view the museum's collection not as works stored in a pantry but as a public cultural asset enjoyed together with the local community, extending the space of sharing to the small libraries, which are part of residents' living spaces. Starting from questions like 'Why do museums collect artworks?' and 'Whose are the collected works?', visitors can begin their appreciation journey.

In this exhibition, six pieces of work by artist Park Min-pyeong will be showcased. At the Kimje Gilbo Small Library, three pieces of artwork from the 1980s titled will be displayed, at the Suncheon Pungsan Small Library, , and at the Suncheon Yudung Small Library, and can be seen. Visitors can closely appreciate works created in the 1970s and 1980s, exploring the artist's expressions and traces of the era embedded in the artwork.

In addition to artwork appreciation, there will be guided tours by dispatched interpreters. They will provide necessary information for appreciation, such as the background of the artwork, the artist's working world, and their expression methods, while also examining the characteristics of the artwork and its social and historical background. Through questions like 'Why did the museum collect this artwork?' and 'What aspects of our era can be discovered in this artwork?', understanding and appreciation of the artwork will naturally expand.

Through this program, the provincial art museum aims to provide residents in areas with relatively limited access to cultural and art enjoyment the opportunity to encounter museum collections in nearby places. It also aims to bridge cultural gaps between regions through art, expanding the foundation of public art services based on living spaces, not only for children and families but also for adults and the elderly.
