전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)이 전북의 무형유산 장인들과 함께 전통공예 기술을 전수하는‘2025 한국공예 장인학교’의 시작을 알렸다.

이번 교육은 지난 8일 첫 수업을 시작으로, 도제식 실습 중심의 교육 방식을 통해 사라져 가는 전통기술을 보존하고 전문 인력을 양성하는 데 목적을 두고 있다.

한국공예 장인학교는 전북특별자치도 무형유산 장인들이 직접 교육자로 참여하는 프로그램으로, 기초반과 심화반으로 구성된 2년제 학제 시스템을 기반으로 운영된다. 장기적인 관점에서 지역 공예 생태계를 활성화하고, 전통기술의 현대적 계승을 도모하는 구조다.

올해 운영되는 기초반은 △단선 △매듭 △목조각 △색지 △지승 등 5개 분야에서 교육생을 모집했으며, 총 25명 정원에 33명이 지원해 높은 관심을 보였다.

개별 면접을 통해 교육생을 최종 선발했으며, 이들은 주 3시간씩 1:1 도제식 교육을 통해 장인들의 숙련된 기술과 노하우를 전수받게 된다.
교육과정은 기초반 28주, 심화반 28주로 총 56주간 운영되며, 기초반을 성실히 이수한 교육생에게는 이후 심화 과정에 참여할 수 있는 자격이 주어진다. 이를 통해 단순한 기능 습득을 넘어 장기적인 공예 전문인력 양성 체계를 갖출 것으로 기대된다.

한편 지난해 기초반 수업을 받았던 교육생들 중 실력이 우수한 수료생들은 올해 심화반에 참여하게 된다.

Jeonju Cultural Foundation (CEO Choi Rak-gi) announced the start of the '2025 Korean Craftsmanship School,' which aims to pass down traditional craft skills by working with intangible cultural heritage craftsmen in Jeonbuk.

The education program started with its first class on the 8th, focusing on a hands-on apprenticeship-based teaching method to preserve disappearing traditional skills and cultivate professional manpower.

The Korean Craftsmanship School is a program where Jeonbuk's intangible cultural heritage craftsmen directly participate as educators. It operates based on a 2-year academic system consisting of basic and advanced levels. The structure aims to activate the regional craft ecosystem in the long term and promote the modern succession of traditional skills.

This year's basic level includes recruitment of students in five areas: ceramics, knots, wood carving, dyeing, and bamboo weaving. There were 33 applicants for the total of 25 spots, showing high interest.

After individual interviews, the final students were selected, who will receive 1:1 apprenticeship training for 3 hours per week to inherit the craftsmen's skilled techniques and know-how.

The course will run for a total of 56 weeks, with 28 weeks for the basic level and 28 weeks for the advanced level. Those who successfully complete the basic level will qualify to participate in the advanced course, aiming to establish a long-term system for cultivating professional craft manpower beyond simple skill acquisition.

Outstanding graduates from last year's basic level will participate in this year's advanced level.

Each field of education is led by intangible cultural heritage holders in Jeonbuk: ceramics by Bang Hwa-sun, knots by Kim Sun-ja, wood carving by Kim Jong-yeon, dyeing by Kim Hye-mi-ja, and bamboo weaving by Kim Sun-ae.

Choi Rak-gi, CEO of Jeonju Cultural Foundation, expressed hopes for the Korean Craftsmanship School to nurture skilled craftsmen who can lead the local craft culture and pledged active support for the continuous succession of traditional skills into the future.
