더불어민주당 미디어공공성강화TF가 YTN 지분 매각 과정에 당시 방송통신위원회와 산업통상자원부, 대통령실이 관여했다며 철저한 수사를 촉구했다.

민주당 TF는 14일 보도자료를 통해 감사원 감사 결과, 이동관 당시 방송통신위원장과 강경성 당시 산업부 차관 등이 YTN 지분 매각 방식 변경 과정에 관여한 정황이 확인됐다고 밝혔다. 감사원은 관련 수사자료를 고위공직자범죄수사처에 넘겼다.

쟁점은 한전KDN과 한국마사회가 보유한 YTN 지분의 매각 방식이다. 두 기관은 당초 전체 지분 약 31% 가운데 29.99%만 공동 매각하기로 했다. 그러나 이동관 위원장 취임 이후 약 31% 전량을 한꺼번에 매각하는 방식으로 변경됐다.

민주당 TF는 이 과정에서 강경성 당시 차관이 이관섭 당시 대통령실 국정기획수석을 통해 전량 매각이 정부 방침임을 확인했다고 주장했다. TF는 “YTN 매각 방식이 왜 변경됐는지, 대통령실이 어디까지 관여했는지 밝혀야 한다”며 공수처에 관련자 전반에 대한 수사를 촉구했다. 또 방송미디어통신위원회에도 YTN 매각과 방송사업 승인 과정에 문제가 없었는지 다시 살펴야 한다고 요구했다.

The Democratic Party's Media Publicness Enhancement Task Force (TF) has called for a thorough investigation into the process of selling YTN shares, alleging that the Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the presidential office were involved.

According to the Democratic Party TF's press release on the 14th, the Audit Office confirmed that at the time, the then-chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, Lee Dong-gwan, and the then-vice minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Kang Kyung-sung, were involved in changing the method of selling YTN shares. The Audit Office has handed over relevant investigation materials to the High-Ranking Officials' Crimes Investigation Unit.

The point of contention is the method of selling YTN shares held by KEPCO KDN and the Korea Racing Authority. Initially, the two organizations had agreed to jointly sell only 29.99% out of the total 31% shares. However, after Lee Dong-gwan took office as chairman, the method was changed to selling the entire 31% at once.

The Democratic Party TF claimed that during this process, Kang Kyung-sung, the then-vice minister, confirmed through Lee Gwan-seop, the then-presidential office's chief secretary for national planning, that selling the entire stake was government policy. The TF stated, "It must be clarified why the method of selling YTN was changed and to what extent the presidential office was involved," urging the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to investigate all parties involved. They also demanded a reexamination by the Korea Communications Commission to see if there were any issues in the approval process for YTN's sale and broadcasting business.
