The mid-career traditional Korean musician, Park Seung-hee, will hold a solo concert titled "Residuals Immersed in the Light: Gayageum and Hanji Objects" at the Seohak Arts Theater on the 18th at 3 p.m.

This solo concert, selected as part of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation's "Mid-Career Arts Creation Support" project, is designed to reflect on the essence of Korean traditional music, Jeongak, and to promote its value widely.

In this performance, Park Seung-hee will take on the artistic challenge of performing the entire masterpiece of Jeongak, "Hyunak Yeongsan Hoesang," which is considered the essence of Jeongak. Through delicate manipulation of the Gayageum and Janggu, she plans to convey the restraint and aesthetics unique to Jeongak with subtle string manipulation and restrained techniques.

In particular, "Residuals Immersed in the Light: Gayageum and Hanji Objects" stands out for its three-dimensional staging that visually transforms the long-breathed Jeongak into a narrative. By projecting media art that changes according to the dynamics of the music onto sculptures made of Jeonju Hanji, the audience can immerse themselves more deeply in the performance. The performance showcases various attempts to engage with the audience from the first piece to the last, expressing the emotions of slow-paced songs through the blur of ink wash painting and visualizing changes in dynamics with fast-paced patterns.

A Jeonju Cultural Foundation official stated, "This performance offers a deep experience of the essence of tradition, Jeongak, through Jeonju Hanji and media technology," and expressed hope for a lot of interest from the public, as it is a performance that makes traditional arts more accessible.
