부안종합사회복지관·부안장애인종합복지관은 전북사회복지공동모금회의 에너지위기 취약계층 지원사업인 '희망여름 착착착'에 선정돼 지역사회 내 기후위기 대응과 취약계층의 건강한 여름나기를 위한 지원사업을 실시했다고 22일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 기후변화로 여름철 폭염이 장기화되는 가운데 저소득층, 노인, 청소년, 장애인 등 에너지 취약계층의 건강과 안전을 보호하고, 온열질환 등 폭염으로 인한 각종 위험을 예방하기 위해 마련됐다.

복지관은 지난 7월 에너지위기 취약계층 51가구를 대상으로 선풍기를 비롯한 여름철 생활필수품 6종으로 구성된 '여름나기 꾸러미'를 전달했다. 특히 선풍기를 포함한 지원물품을 통해 폭염 속에서도 보다 시원하고 안전한 환경에서 여름을 보낼 수 있도록 실질적인 도움을 제공했다.

사업 담당자는 "기후위기로 인한 폭염은 에너지 취약계층에게 더욱 큰 어려움으로 다가오고 있다"며 "이번 지원이 무더운 여름을 건강하고 안전하게 보내는 데 작은 힘이 되길 바란다. 앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 기후위기에 대응하고 에너지빈곤과 기후 불평등 해소를 위한 다양한 복지사업을 지속적으로 추진해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

한편, '희망여름 착착착' 사업은 전북사회복지공동모금회가 기후위기에 선제적으로 대응하고 에너지 취약계층의 생활 안정을 지원하기 위해 추진하는 사업이다. 부안종합사회복지관과 부안장애인종합복지관은 앞으로도 지역사회 내 다양한 복지자원과 협력해 취약계층의 건강한 일상과 안전한 생활환경 조성을 위한 맞춤형 복지서비스를 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.

Booan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Booan Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled announced on the 22nd that they were selected for the 'Hopeful Summer Snap' project, a support program for energy crisis vulnerable groups by the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea. They implemented a support project for climate crisis response within the local community and ensuring a healthy summer for vulnerable groups.

This project was designed to protect the health and safety of energy vulnerable groups such as low-income households, the elderly, youth, and the disabled, amidst the prolonged summer heatwaves caused by climate change, and to prevent various risks such as heat-related illnesses due to heatwaves.

In July, the welfare centers delivered a 'Summer Survival Kit' consisting of six essential summer items including fans to 51 energy crisis vulnerable households. Particularly, through the support items including fans, they provided practical assistance for spending the summer in a cooler and safer environment even amidst the heatwaves.

A project official stated, "Heatwaves caused by climate crisis pose even greater challenges for energy vulnerable groups," and expressed hope that this support would be a small help in spending a healthy and safe summer. They also mentioned their commitment to continue implementing various welfare projects in collaboration with the local community to address climate crisis, energy poverty, and reduce climate inequalities.

The 'Hopeful Summer Snap' project is an initiative by the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea to proactively respond to climate crisis and support the stability of living for energy vulnerable groups. Booan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Booan Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled plan to continue implementing tailored welfare services in collaboration with various welfare resources within the local community to create a healthy daily life and safe living environment for vulnerable groups.
