세움장애인자립생활센터(대표 심지선)가 발달장애인의 자기결정권과 권리 의식을 높이고 사회참여를 확대하기 위한 '제2회 2026년 발달장애인 자기권리주장대회'​를 개최하고 참가자를 모집한다.

'나의 목소리, 우리의 권리'를 주제로 열리는 이번 대회는 발달장애인 당사자가 자신의 삶과 꿈, 권리, 일상 등 다양한 이야기를 직접 발표하며 자기표현 능력을 키우고 사회와 소통할 수 있도록 마련됐다.

특히 올해는 말로 자신의 의사를 표현하는 데 어려움이 있는 발달장애인의 참여 기회를 확대하기 위해 조력자와 함께하는 발표를 허용하고 해당 참가자를 우선 접수한다. 이를 통해 보다 많은 발달장애인이 자신의 목소리를 낼 수 있는 포용적인 대회가 될 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

참가 대상은 모든 발달장애인이며 접수는 8월부터 9월까지 진행된다. 본선 대회는 오는 10월 2일 오후 2시부터 4시까지 열릴 예정으로, 참가자는 자유 주제를 선정해 5분 이내 발표를 진행한다.

참가자 전원에게는 개인의 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 시상과 함께 상장 및 부상이 수여되며, 자기표현 능력 향상을 위한 교육 기회도 제공된다.

세움장애인자립생활센터 심지선 대표는 "발달장애인이 자신의 생각과 권리를 당당하게 표현하는 경험은 자기결정권을 실천하는 중요한 과정"이라며 "특히 올해는 의사표현이 어려운 당사자도 조력자와 함께 참여할 수 있도록 문을 넓힌 만큼 많은 관심과 참여를 바란다"고 말했다.

Seoul Independent Living Center for People with Disabilities, represented by Shim Ji-sun, is hosting the '2nd Annual 2026 Developmental Disabilities Self-Advocacy Conference' to raise awareness of the self-determination and rights of individuals with developmental disabilities and to expand their social participation. Under the theme 'My Voice, Our Rights,' this conference is designed to allow individuals with developmental disabilities to directly present various aspects of their lives, dreams, rights, and daily experiences, enhancing their self-expression abilities and enabling them to communicate with society.

This year, in order to increase the participation opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities who have difficulty expressing their thoughts verbally, presentations with supporters will be allowed, and these participants will be given priority in registration. It is expected that this inclusive conference will provide a platform for more individuals with developmental disabilities to voice their opinions.

The target participants are all individuals with developmental disabilities, and registration will take place from August to September. The final competition is scheduled to take place on October 2nd from 2 PM to 4 PM, where participants will choose a free topic and deliver a presentation within 5 minutes.

All participants will receive personalized awards and certificates, taking into account their individual characteristics, and educational opportunities for improving self-expression skills will also be provided.

Shim Ji-sun, the director of the Seoul Independent Living Center for People with Disabilities, stated, "The experience of individuals with developmental disabilities confidently expressing their thoughts and rights is an important step in practicing self-determination," and expressed hope for "increased interest and participation, especially since this year, individuals who have difficulty expressing their opinions can participate with supporters."
