전북특별자치도장애인체육회가 제64회 스포츠 주간을 기념하여 도내 장애인 체육 단체 간의 벽을 허물고 협력을 강화하기 위한 특별한 소통의 장을 마련했다.

전북특별자치도장애인체육회는 29일 오후 3시 전주어울림국민체육센터에서 전북도장애인럭비협회(회장 김현륜)와 함께 ‘친선 교류 행사’를 개최했다. 이번 행사에는 조형철 사무처장을 비롯한 장애인체육회 임직원, 장애인럭비협회 선수단, (사)장애인인권연대 관계자 등 80여 명이 참석해 뜨거운 열기 속에 진행됐다.

이번 행사는 장애인 체육 현장에 대한 실질적인 이해를 돕기 위해 기획됐다. 참석자들은 휠체어 럭비 종목에 대한 상세한 설명을 듣고, 임직원들이 직접 경기용 휠체어에 올라 선수들과 함께 코트를 누비며 종목의 특성과 어려움을 몸소 체험하는 시간을 가졌다.

훈련 체험 후 이어진 간담회에서는 경기단체의 운영 현황을 공유하고, 일선 현장에서 선수들이 느끼는 애로사항을 가감 없이 청취하는 정책 소통의 시간도 이어졌다.

이날 행사를 주관한 조형철 전북도장애인체육회 사무처장은 “스포츠 주간을 맞아 선수들과 함께 땀 흘리며 소통할 수 있어 매우 뜻깊다”며, “오늘 현장에서 보고 느낀 선수들의 열정과 고충을 적극 반영하여, 장애인 체육인들이 더 나은 환경에서 운동에 전념할 수 있도록 실질적인 지원책을 마련하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

행사에 함께한 김현륜 전북도장애인럭비협회장은 “장애인 럭비는 격렬한 접촉이 허용되는 유일한 장애인 스포츠로 매우 매력적인 종목이지만, 여전히 대중적인 관심이 부족한 실정”이라며, “이번 교류 행사가 럭비를 비롯한 여러 장애인 스포츠 종목들이 도민들에게 더 널리 알려지고, 체육회와 단체 간의 유대가 더욱 돈독해지는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 화답했다.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Sports Association organized a special communication event to break down barriers between disability sports organizations in the province and strengthen cooperation in commemoration of the 64th Sports Week.

On the 29th, at 3 p.m., the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Sports Association held a 'friendly exchange event' at the Jeonju Oullim National Sports Center with the Jeonbuk Disability Rugby Association (President Kim Hyun-ryun). The event was attended by around 80 people, including Jeonbuk Disability Sports Association staff, Disability Rugby Association players, and representatives from the Association for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and was carried out with great enthusiasm.

The event was planned to promote a practical understanding of disability sports. Participants received detailed explanations about wheelchair rugby and had the opportunity to experience the characteristics and difficulties of the sport firsthand by getting on the game wheelchairs and moving around the court with the players.

Following the training experience, a meeting was held to share the operational status of the sports organizations and to listen without bias to the difficulties experienced by the players on the front lines.

Cho Hyeong-cheol, the head of the Jeonbuk Disability Sports Association's office, who organized the event, expressed, "It is very meaningful to be able to communicate and sweat with the players during Sports Week," and stated, "Based on the passion and difficulties felt by the players today, we will do our best to establish practical support measures so that disabled athletes can devote themselves to sports in a better environment."

Kim Hyun-ryun, the President of the Jeonbuk Disability Rugby Association, mentioned, "Disability rugby is a very attractive sport as the only disability sport that allows intense contact, but it still lacks widespread public interest," and expressed his hope that "this exchange event will help various disability sports, including rugby, become more widely known to the residents of the province and strengthen the bond between the sports associations and organizations."
