정읍시가 5월 가정의 달과 어린이 주간을 맞아 아동학대 예방을 위한 홍보와 교육 활동을 강화했다.

시는 어린이날 기념 행사장에 시민 참여형 아동학대 예방 홍보관을 설치하고, 정읍시아동보호전문기관·정읍경찰서와 함께 인식 개선 활동을 펼쳤다.

홍보관에서는 행사장을 찾은 가족 단위 시민들에게 안내문과 홍보물을 배부하고, 부모와 자녀가 서로 존중하는 ‘긍정 양육 129 원칙’을 알렸다. 또한 아동학대 근절 다짐 서명 운동을 진행하며 아동 보호에 대한 시민들의 관심을 높였다.

정읍시아동보호전문기관은 지난 1월부터 총 10회에 걸쳐 노인 일자리 사업 참여 어르신과 신고의무자 등 570명을 대상으로 아동학대 예방 교육도 실시했다. 교육은 아동 권리 이해, 학대 유형과 의심 징후, 조기 발견의 중요성, 신고 방법과 절차 등을 실제 사례 중심으로 진행됐다.

교육에 참여한 한 어르신은 “예전에는 훈육이라고 생각했던 행동이 아이들에게 상처가 될 수 있다는 것을 알게 됐다”며 “앞으로 주변 아이들을 더 세심하게 살피겠다”고 말했다.

정읍시는 앞으로도 관계기관과 협력해 시민 대상 아동학대 예방 교육과 홍보를 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.

Jeongeup City has strengthened promotional and educational activities for the prevention of child abuse in celebration of Family Month and Children's Week in May.

The city set up a citizen-participatory child abuse prevention promotion center at the Children's Day event venue and conducted awareness-raising activities in collaboration with the Jeongeup Child Protection Agency and Jeongeup Police Station.

At the promotion center, families visiting the event venue were provided with leaflets and promotional materials, and were informed about the 'Positive Parenting 129 Principles' that emphasize mutual respect between parents and children. In addition, a campaign for pledging to eradicate child abuse was carried out, raising public awareness of child protection.

Since January, the Jeongeup Child Protection Agency has conducted child abuse prevention education for a total of 570 participants, including elderly job seekers and mandatory reporters, over 10 sessions. The education focused on understanding children's rights, recognizing types of abuse and signs of suspicion, the importance of early detection, and reporting methods and procedures, with a practical case-based approach.

One elderly participant in the education program said, "I learned that behaviors I used to think of as discipline could hurt children," adding, "I will pay more attention to the children around me in the future."

Jeongeup City plans to continue promoting child abuse prevention education and awareness campaigns for citizens in collaboration with relevant organizations in the future.
