전주시보건소(소장 김신선)는 8일 전주시에 거주하는 장애인과 보호자 등 30여 명을 대상으로 ‘안전한 약물 사용과 관리 방법’을 주제로 한 통합건강관리 교육을 실시했다.

지역장애인보건의료센터와 연계해 이번 교육은 만성질환 등으로 인해 다종의 약물을 장기 복용하는 경우가 많은 장애인과 그 가족들이 약물을 올바르게 이해하고 안전하게 관리할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 교육에는 대한약사회 소속 의약품안전교육 전문강사가 초빙돼 △올바른 약 복용법(식전·식후 복용 준수 등) △약물 유통기한 확인 및 보관법 △함께 먹으면 안 되는 음식과 약물 △가정 내 폐의약품 처리 방법 등 실생활에서 놓치기 쉬운 핵심 내용을 중심으로 강의를 진행했다.

특히 장애 유형에 따라 약을 삼키기 어렵거나, 여러 종류의 약을 혼동해 복용하는 사례를 예방하기 위한 맞춤형 복약 상담도 함께 이뤄져 참석자들의 이해를 도왔다.

이와 함께 보건소는 교육 이후 재활운동실(063-281-8641~3)에서 진행하는 △그룹 및 방문재활운동 서비스 △사회참여 프로그램 △장애발생 예방 및 홍보사업 등 다양한 장애인 재활보건사업도 홍보했다.

이날 교육에 참여한 한 보호자는 “가족이 먹는 약 종류가 많아 늘 헷갈리고 부작용이 걱정됐는데, 전문 약사님이 직접 사례를 들어 설명해주시니 훨씬 안심이 된다”면서 “오늘 배운 대로 약상자 정리부터 다시 해야겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

김신선 전주시보건소장은 “장애인들은 다제약물 복용 비율이 높은 만큼, 안전한 약물 관리가 건강의 시작이자 필수 요소”라며 “앞으로도 지역사회 전문 기관과 연계해 장애인과 보호자가 체감할 수 있는 실질적인 건강 증진 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영하겠다”고 말했다.

This education session, coordinated with the local Disability Health and Medical Center, was designed to help individuals with disabilities and their families who often take various medications long-term due to chronic illnesses understand and safely manage medications.

On this day, a specialized instructor from the Korean Pharmaceutical Society was invited to conduct lectures focusing on key practical aspects that are easily overlooked in daily life, such as △ proper medication intake methods (compliance with taking medication before or after meals) △ checking medication expiration dates and storage methods △ foods that should not be consumed with certain medications △ proper disposal methods of expired medications at home.

In particular, tailored medication counseling was also provided to prevent cases where it is difficult to swallow pills due to the type of disability or confusion in taking multiple types of medications, helping participants better understand.

Furthermore, the Health Center promoted various disability rehabilitation health programs such as △ group and home visit rehabilitation services △ social participation programs △ disability prevention and promotion projects, which are conducted at the Rehabilitation Exercise Room (063-281-8641~3) after the education session.

One guardian who participated in the education session expressed their thoughts, saying, "I was always confused and worried about the many types of medications my family takes, but now that the specialized pharmacist explained with examples, I feel much more relieved," and added, "I should organize the medication cabinet again as learned today."

Director Kim Shin-sun of the Jeonju City Health Center stated, "As people with disabilities have a high rate of taking multiple medications, safe medication management is the starting point and an essential element of health," and mentioned, "We will continue to operate practical health promotion programs that individuals with disabilities and their guardians can feel through continuous collaboration with local community specialized institutions."
